Montreal looks to take big step on both ends of the ice
The Canadiens were one of the best teams in the second half of last season with an offense that averaged 3.20 goals per game following the Four-Nations Faceoff break. Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Juraj Slafkovsky led a dynamic top line with 85 goals and 125 assists, while Lane Hutson added six goals and 60 assists from the point to win the Calder Trophy. Better yet, the offense looks poised to only get better with Ivan Demidov, one of the top prospects in the game, joining the forward unit, while Noah Dobson, an excellent scoring defenseman, joins the team as well.
The offense carried the Canadiens while the defense, which allowed only 2.70 goals per game in the second half, looks poised to improve as well. Lane Hutson and Noah Dobson will lead the top two pairings, while Mike Matheson and Kaiden Guhle look to add depth to the unit. In addition, Samuel Mountembeault looks to hold down the fort in the net as he had a .901 save percentage and a 2.82 goals-against average on 1679 shots with 2.1 goals saved above average.
Maple Leafs hope balanced team leads them to a Cup

- Canadiens (+130) (4 units)
This will be a great game between two teams expected to be near the top of the Eastern Conference. The Maple Leafs look to win on their home ice but the Canadiens are on the rise and look to surprise them in this one. The Canadiens should create plenty of scoring chances with Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone while creating open shots with quick passes. The Canadiens, who allowed only 2.70 goals per game in the second half of last season, should limit the Maple Leafs' offense with Lane Hutson, Noah Dobson, and the rest of the defensive unit forcing turnovers and blocking shots while goaltender Samuel Mountembeault blanks the shots on the net. The Canadiens should win the game and provide great odds in the process as road Underdogs.
Take the Canadiens money line as road Underdogs.
