Evgenii Dadonov (Stars), Dennis Cholowski (re-signed) and Angus Crookshank (Senators) all signed one-year deals. The Devils lost Brian Dumolin (Kings), Nolan Foote (Panthers), Curtis Lazar (Oilers), Nathan Bastian (Stars), Samuel Laberge (Sharks) and Isaac Poulter (Jets) via free agency. Jesper Bratt is back after scoring a team-high 88 points last season, while Nico Hischier potted a team-high 35 goals.

Carolina made a big splash, signing Nikolaj Ehlers to a six-year deal worth $51 million from Winnipeg. The Hurricanes also added Mike Reilly (Islanders) on a one-year deal but some pieces need to be replaced from last season. Dmitry Orlov (Sharks), Riley Stillman (Oilers) and Brent Burns (Avalanche) all signed elsewhere. Meanwhile, Jack Roslovic, along with goaltenders Dustin Tokarski and Spencer Martin, all remained unsigned. Devils vs. Hurricanes Pick
Devils vs. Hurricanes Moneyline Pick
- Hurricanes -155
New Jersey may have overachieved last season, given the injuries they sustained, which knocked Jack Hughes and Dougie Hamilton out for extended stretches. The Devils were overmatched in the postseason as Carolina brushed them aside with relative ease, with three of the games decided by multiple goals. Carolina was a sparkling 31-9-1 mark on home ice in the regular season in 2024-25, and they have dominated this series on home ice of late. Including the postseason, the Hurricanes have beaten the Devils 10 straight times in Raleigh and thereโs no reason to think things will change here. Take Carolina at home here.
Devils vs. Hurricanes Over/Under Pick
- Over 5.5 (-118)
New Jersey was an under machine last season, staying under the number to the tune of 47-32-3 in the regular season last year before posting a 3-2 mark to the under in the playoffs. The Devils saw an average total of 5.61 goals per game last season and that number bumped slightly to 5.66 goals per game on the road. Carolina saw the under post a 41-34-7 mark in the regular season and a 9-6 mark in the postseason. The Hurricanes had an average of 6.05 goals per game last season and that number jumped to 6.24 goals per game at home. These teams had higher totals in their respective home/road splits last season. Lean toward this game ending up over the number.
