The New Jersey Devils (8-3, 6-5 PL, 7-4 O/U) take on the Los Angeles Kings (5-3-1-1, 7-5 PL, 6-5-1 O/U) in an inter-conference showdown on Saturday evening, and we have the prediction. The Devils were hit with a road defeat by the Sharks on Thursday. The Kings dropped a home meeting against the Red Wings in their previous clash. Each team posted one win in last year's season series.

Can the Kings answer with a home win on Saturday evening? Check out the Devils vs. Kings prediction. Nobody does it better when it comes to NHL Picks!

New Jersey Continues Road Trip

The New Jersey Devils continue a four-game road trek on Saturday. New Jersey is one of the hottest teams in the NHL. They lost their season opener against the Hurricanes and have dropped just two games since.Β  They have posted wins against the Panthers and Maple Leafs. The Devils lost a clash against the Avalanche on Tuesday and were charged with a 5-2 road defeat against the Sharks in the second game of the road trip on Thursday. The Devils stand second in the division and conference.

Jack Hughes has been outstanding. The 24-year-old star has nine points in his past six games. He had an assist in the defeat on Thursday and has accumulated 15 points on the season. He had three points against the Kings last year. Nico Hischier has amassed three points in his last five games. The 26-year-old center has recorded 10 points on the season.

Timo Meier has been inconsistent, going five straight games without scoring a goal. The veteran sniper has netted three goals along with six assists on the year. Simon Nemic is having a breakout season on defense. The former #2 pick has seven points. He averages 16 minutes of ice. Dougie Hamilton is one of the better defenseman in the NHL. He has a +2 rating and played about 22 minutes per game.

The Devils have been going with Jake Allen in the cage due to the injury to Jacob Markstrom. He is now healthy but is struggling. Allen was in the net on Thursday and has posted a strong 2.39 GAA and a .906 save %, while Markstrom has a poor 5.13 GAA and a 2-2 record on the season.

New Jersey is averaging 3.7 goals per game, ranking them third. The Devils are conceding an average of 3.2 goals, placing them 21st.

Kings Target Sixth Win of Season

The Los Angeles Kings are targeting their sixth win of the season. It was a disastrous start. They only managed one win in their first five games of the year and have rebounded by netting a 4-1-1 mark in their past six games. They earned a narrow 4-3 road win against the Sharks on Tuesday and sustained a 4-2 shootout home loss by the Red Wings on Thursday. The Kings are in 2nd place in the division.

Adrian Kempe has been relied on heavily. The 29-year-old winger has racked up six points in his last five games. He earned one point on Thursday and leads the squad with 15 points on the year. He had one point in two meetings against the Devils last year. Quinton Byfield has been quiet. The 23-year-old winger has netted just two goals but is finding the scoresheet, generating eight helpers on the season.

Anze Kopitar missed a few games early in the season due to an injury and is back in action. The veteran center has reported six points. Brandt Clarke is a young defenseman helping create offense. The 22-year-old has five points in his past five games and seven points and a +6 rating on the year. Drew Doughty remains a steady presence on the blueline. Doughy has posted a +4 rating and leads the team in ice time at 23 minutes per game.

The Kings' goaltending has been shaky. Anton Forsberg is the backup. He has managed a 3.19 GAA. Darcy Keumper had an injury early in the season and is back. He is one of the better goalies in the NHL but has yet to find a groove, posting a 2.82 GAA, a subpar .894 save %, accompanied by a 3-2-3 record on the season.

Los Angeles is posting an average of 2.9 goals per game on the season, marking them 20th. The Kings are keeping opponents to 3.1 goals, placing them 16th in the NHL.

Devils vs. Kings Pick

Spread Pick for Devils vs. Kings

  • Los Angeles Kings -105 (5 units)

The New Jersey Devils were the hottest team in the NHL, but have since cooled down. They have dropped two straight games, including an ugly 5-2 loss to the Sharks. The Los Angeles Kings have answered after a poor start to the season, posting a 4-1-1 record in their past six games.

Furthermore, the Kings didn’t have their #1 goalie, Darcy Keumper, for a while early in the season, and he is now back. They have been stingy defensively, conceding only 16 goals in their past six games. New Jersey relies heavily on its power play. They have an xGF/60 minutes of 3.17 goals, which is slightly below the league average. The Devils have been shaky defensively and in the net in recent games. They have squandered 13 goals in their past two games.

Over/Under Pick for Devils vs. Kings

  • Over 5.5 (5 units)

I expect plenty of scoring. New Jersey has been just as potent on the road. They have scored 19 goals in their past five road games. The New Jersey power play is ranked 1st and up against a struggling Kings’ PK that is ranked 21st in the NHL.

In addition, Los Angeles has scored 10 goals in its past three games. They are averaging 29 shots on goal per game. The Devils have struggled to keep the puck out of the net on the road. They have surrendered 20 goals in their past five road games. The over is a convincing 5-2 in the Devils' past seven road games.
