Devils hope defense rebounds
The Devils are coming off a rough opening night despite their offense stepping up and scoring three goals. Jesper Bratt, Jack Hughes, and Cody Glass scored two goals and two assists while defensemen Dougie Hamilton, Luke Hughes, and Brett Pesce added a goal and two assists from the point to open things up.
The offense was great but the defense was awful, allowing six goals in the defeat. Hamilton and Hughes led the top two pairings but the rest of the unit struggled, allowing easy shots on the net throughout the night. In terms of injuries, Evgenii Dadanov, who had 20 goals and 20 assists last season with Dallas, is listed as day-to-day.
Tampa Bay looks for offense to fuel them
The Lightning had a rough season opener despite their offense stepping up and scoring four goals. Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point scored three goals and two assists but the rest of the offense was also great. Jake Guentzel and Oliver Bjorkstrand combined for a goal and two assists while defensemen Victor Hedman and Darren Raddysh added four assists from the point to open up the offense.

Winger Nick Paul (upper body) is on the injured reserve and is expected to return in early November.
