Rangers Still Winless At Home

The Rangers come into Detroit with one of the strangest splits in the league: 0-5-1 at home, but 6-1-1 on the road. Madison Square Garden has been a nightmare for them so far, with four shutouts already, but away from New York they’ve looked like a completely different team. Their most recent trip to Seattle ended with an overtime win, and that kind of resilience has been the hallmark of their road success. Igor Shesterkin continues to give them a chance every night, but the lack of scoring at home has been glaring. On the road, though, the offense has been more opportunistic, finding ways to finish chances in tight games.

Offensively, the Rangers are still searching for consistency. Artemi Panarin has had stretches where he looks like the elite playmaker they need, but the supporting cast hasn’t always delivered. J.T. Miller has been active, generating chances, but finishing has been an issue. Adam Fox remains the steady hand on the blue line, logging heavy minutes and driving puck movement, but the team has struggled to turn possession into goals. The road record suggests they play looser and more confident away from the Garden, and that will be critical against a Detroit team that thrives at home.

Defensively, New York has been solid, allowing just 2.6 goals per game over their last 10. Shesterkin has faced plenty of pressure, but the Rangers’ structure has kept them competitive even when the offense sputters. Against Detroit, the challenge will be slowing down Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond, who have been the engines of the Red Wings’ attack. If the Rangers can keep the game tight and lean on their road confidence, they’ll have a chance to steal another win away from home.

Red Wings Suffer Tough Loss At Vegas

Detroit returns home after a long West Coast trip, finishing with a tough 1-0 loss in Vegas. Even with that setback, the Red Wings have been strong overall, sitting at 9-5-0 and riding a five-game home winning streak. Little Caesars Arena has been a fortress, with the team feeding off the energy of the crowd and finding ways to close out games late. The offense has averaged nearly three goals per game, and the power play has been clicking at over 22 percent, giving them a reliable weapon in tight spots.

Captain Dylan Larkin has been the heartbeat of the team, already piling up eight goals and 10 assists through 14 games. His chemistry with Alex DeBrincat and Lucas Raymond has given Detroit a dangerous top line, while Moritz Seider continues to anchor the defense with his physical play and ability to contribute offensively. The addition of veteran James van Riemsdyk has added depth, and the Red Wings have shown they can roll multiple lines effectively. Against New York, expect Larkin to set the tone early, especially with the Rangers’ struggles at home fresh in mind.

Defensively, Detroit has been steady, allowing three goals per game but showing improvement in penalty killing, sitting at nearly 87 percent. Goaltender Cam Talbot has been reliable, giving them veteran stability in net. The Red Wings’ ability to control the puck and limit mistakes has been key to their home success, and they’ll look to continue that against a Rangers team that has been much better on the road. If Detroit can dictate pace and keep New York chasing, they’ll be in position to extend their home streak and add another win to their record.

New York Rangers vs Detroit Red Wings Pick

Rangers vs Red Wings Moneyline Pick

  • NY Rangers -110 (3 Units)

The Rangers -110 feels like a sharp play because their road form has been outstanding, sitting at 6-1-1 away from Madison Square Garden. For whatever reason, they’ve looked more confident and freer offensively outside of New York, and Igor Shesterkin has been locked in, giving them the kind of goaltending that travels well. Artemi Panarin and Adam Fox continue to drive play, and while the scoring has been inconsistent at home, the Rangers have found ways to finish chances on the road. Against Detroit, that ability to grind out wins in tough buildings makes them a live side, even against a team riding a strong home streak.

Detroit has been excellent at Little Caesars Arena, but their offense has shown cracks when facing structured defenses, and that’s exactly what New York brings. The Rangers’ penalty kill has been sharp, and their ability to limit second-chance opportunities should help neutralize Dylan Larkin’s line. With Shesterkin capable of stealing stretches of the game and New York’s confidence away from home, the Rangers are well-positioned to cover the short price. Taking them at -110 leans into their road dominance and the matchup advantages they carry into this Original Six clash.

Rangers vs Red Wings Over/Under Pick

  • Under 6 (1 Unit)

The under 6 makes sense because both the Rangers and Red Wings have leaned on structure and goaltending to stay competitive, rather than trading goals. Igor Shesterkin has kept New York in tight, low-scoring games all season, and Detroit’s penalty kill has been sharp while Cam Talbot has provided steady play in net. With the Rangers’ offense still inconsistent despite their strong road record, and Detroit often relying on grinding out wins at home, this matchup sets up as a defensive battle where chances are limited and the total stays under.
