New York has struggled on offense

The Rangers are having a forgettable season with their offense letting them down, scoring only 2.67 goals per game. Mika Zibanejad, Vincent Trocheck, and Alexis Lafreniere have scored 51 goals and 81 assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only five active skaters have 10 goals or more and opponents can eliminate the hapless offense as a result.

The offense has let the Rangers down but the defense has also struggled, allowing 3.15 goals per game with seven goals in the last two games. William Borgen and Vladislav Gavrikov have combined for 4.9 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. Additionally, goaltender Igor Shesterkin has struggled in his latest starts, allowing seven goals in his last two.

Key injury report for Rangers

  • JT Miller is on injured reserve.

Devils awful offense has let them down

The Devils are having a terrible season with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.52 goals per game. Jesper Bratt, Nico Hischeir, and Jack Hughes have scored 45 goals and 86 assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only six skaters have 12 goals or more and opponents can limit the top-heavy offense as a result.

The offense has let the Devils down but the defense has oddly been a bright spot, allowing only 3.00 goals per game with only five goals in the last three games. Dougie Hamilton and Luke Hughes have combined for 6.4 defensive point shares while Simon Nemec and Jonas Seigenthaler have combined for 5.6 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. Additionally, goaltender Jacob Markstrom has looked great lately, allowing only five goals in his last three starts.

Key injury report for Devils

  • No key injuries to report.

Rangers vs Devils Pick

Money Line Pick For Rangers vs Devils

  • Devils (-170) (4 units)

The Rangers look to step up and pull off the upset but the Devils, who have won three in a row, look to take this one on their home ice. The Devils should constantly find the back of the net against the Rangers, who allow 3.15 goals per game, with Jesper Bratt, Jack Hughes, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone while creating open shots with quick passes. The Devils should limit the Rangers offense with Dougie Hamilton, Luke Hughes, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone while limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Jacob Markstrom, who has allowed only five goals in his last three starts, to make plenty of big saves. The Devils should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice.

Take the Devils money line as home Favorites.

Over/Under Pick For Rangers vs Devils

  • Under 5.5 (5 Units)

The two teams have awful offenses and this game looks to be a low-scoring one from the opening puck drop. The Rangers should limit the Devils offense, which averages only 2.52 goals per game, with Vladislav Gavrikov, William Borgen, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone while limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Igor Shesterkin to make plenty of big saves. The Devils, who have allowed only five goals in their last three games, should eliminate and potentially shut out the Rangers, who average only 2.67 goals per game, with Luke Hughes, Dougie Hamilton, Simon Nemec, and the rest of the defensive unit forcing turnovers in the neutral zone and defensive zone while goaltender Jacob Markstrom blanks the shots on the net. The Under should cover in a low-scoring game with both defenses stepping up.

Take the Under on 5.5 goals.
