Monday’s NHL slate is packed with value, and we’re hitting the ice rolling after going 4-2 in our last six NHL Best Bets. Confidence is high as we’ve locked in three sharp plays backed by analytics, recent form, and matchup edges. The goal: keep the momentum going and start the week with more wins!

Below, let's take a look at some of my favorite NHL picks for today, in best bets form. The Picks Below just missed out on being on my official card.

NHL Best Bet #1 - Tampa Finally Finds The Win Column

Tampa Bay enters Monday’s matinee against Boston looking to notch its first win of the season, and the Lightning are a sharp play despite the 0–2 start. They’ve scored 7 goals through two games and boast one of the NHL’s most potent top lines with Brayden Point, Nikita Kucherov, and Jake Guentzel combining for 6 points. Tampa Bay led the league in goals last season (292) and ranked fourth in goals allowed (216), and they’ve already converted two power-play goals on six chances (33.3%). Andrei Vasilevskiy remains elite in net, with a career .917 save percentage and 306 quality starts.

Boston is 3–0 but has benefited from a soft opening slate, with wins over Buffalo, Chicago, and Montreal. The Bruins ranked 27th in goals scored and 26th in goals allowed last season, and their power play remains inconsistent (18.2% through three games). Tampa Bay has won 65.1% of games when favored on the moneyline since 2023 and went 27–14 when priced at -157 or shorter. With a deeper offensive core, special teams edge, and a goaltending advantage, the Lightning are well-positioned to hand Boston its first loss of the season.

Best Bet #1

  • Tampa Bay -160

NHL Best Bet #2 - Panthers/Flyers in A High-Scoring Affair

Monday night’s matchup between Florida and Philadelphia features a total of 5.5, and the over still holds value despite the absence of Aleksander Barkov Jr. Florida has scored 11 goals through three games and ranks top-5 in shot volume and power-play efficiency (41.7%), with Sam Reinhart and Carter Verhaeghe stepping up as primary scoring threats. The Panthers have averaged 36.3 shots per game and continue to push pace with aggressive zone entries and forechecking. Philadelphia, meanwhile, has allowed 7 goals through two games and committed 23 giveaways in their first meeting with Florida—a 3–2 loss in Sunrise.

The Flyers are still adjusting under Rick Tocchet’s system, and their penalty kill has already surrendered three goals on eight chances. Goaltending remains a concern, with Carter Hart posting a .879 save percentage and facing a Panthers team that led the NHL in goals last season. Florida’s depth scoring has shown up early, and Philadelphia’s young forwards—Tyson Foerster, Bobby Brink, and Morgan Frost—have flashed upside despite limited results. With both teams capable of pushing pace and defensive lapses on both sides, this matchup profiles as a 4–3 type finish—comfortably over the posted number

  • Florida/Philadelphia Over 5.5

NHL Best Bet #3 - Utah Gets Mammoth Road Win

Utah enters Monday night’s matchup against Chicago as a slight road underdog, but the Mammoth are in a strong position to grab their first win in franchise history. They’ve dropped two close games to Nashville and Colorado, but the expansion squad has shown defensive structure and goaltending upside behind Karel Vejmelka, who owns a .918 save percentage through two starts. Utah’s penalty kill has allowed just one goal on nine chances, and they’ve committed only 10 penalty minutes total—second-fewest in the league. With a disciplined approach and a top line led by Clayton Keller and Logan Cooley generating 11 high-danger chances, Utah is trending upward.

Chicago, meanwhile, is 0–2–1 and has struggled to finish scoring chances, converting just 6.8% of their shots and ranking 30th in goals scored. Connor Bedard leads the team with three points, but the Blackhawks have allowed 10 goals through three games and rank 28th in defensive zone time. Goaltending has been shaky, with Petr Mrazek posting an .871 save percentage, and the team has committed 23 giveaways in their last two outings. With Utah showing better puck control, steadier net play, and a more cohesive defensive effort, the Mammoth are a live dog worth backing in this early-season tilt.
