Tuesday’s NHL slate is loaded with value, and we’re skating in hot after going 6-3 in our last nine NHL Best Bets. Confidence is high as we’ve locked in three sharp plays backed by analytics, recent form, and matchup insights. The mission: stay hot, find edges, and keep stacking wins on the ice!

Below, let's take a look at some of my favorite NHL picks for today, in best bets form.

NHL Best Bet #1 - Tampa Bay/Washington Score Plenty Of Goals

Tuesday night’s matchup between Tampa Bay and Washington features a total of 5.5, and the over is supported by both teams’ offensive profiles and recent scoring trends. Tampa Bay enters with 7 goals through three games and a 33.3% power-play conversion rate, led by a top line of Jake Guentzel, Anthony Cirelli, and Gage Goncalves, who combined for 6 points in their 4–3 win over Boston. The Lightning have allowed 10 goals and posted a team save percentage of .841, with Andrei Vasilevskiy expected to start. Tampa Bay games have averaged 5.7 total goals this season, and they’ve hit the over in two of three outings.

Washington comes in at 2–1 after a 1–0 win over the Rangers, but their underlying numbers suggest regression. The Capitals have scored 6 goals and allowed 5 through three games, with a penalty kill that’s surrendered 3 goals on 7 chances (57.1%). Charlie Lindgren posted a shutout in his season debut, but the Lightning’s aggressive forecheck and transition game present a tougher test. Last season, these teams ranked first and second in goals scored and combined to hit the over in 49 of 87 (Tampa) and 49 of 92 (Washington) games. With elite scoring talent on both sides and defensive vulnerabilities showing early, this matchup profiles as a 4–3 type finish—leaning over the posted number.

Best Bet #1

  • Tampa Bay/Washington Over 5.5

NHL Best Bet #2 - Defensive Battle In The Big Apple

Tuesday night’s matchup between Edmonton and the New York Rangers features a total of 6, and the under is supported by both teams’ early-season defensive trends and goaltending metrics. The Rangers have played two home games so far—against Washington and Philadelphia—and those contests produced just 4 total goals combined. Igor Shesterkin is expected to start and has allowed only 3 goals on 58 shots (.948 SV%) at home. New York’s penalty kill has been perfect through four games (10-for-10), and they’ve allowed just 1 power-play goal all season. With a defensive structure built around zone denial and shot suppression, the Rangers have kept opponents to 2.0 goals per game.

Edmonton enters at 1–1 and has scored 6 goals while allowing 4, with Stuart Skinner expected to start in net. The Oilers have averaged 36 shots per game but converted on just 22.2% of their power-play chances, and their top line has been held to 2 goals through two games. Edmonton’s last three meetings with the Rangers have averaged just 5.3 total goals, and the under has hit in four of their last six head-to-head matchups. With both teams showing strong goaltending and disciplined defensive play, this matchup profiles as a tight, low-event contest—leaning under the posted number

  • Oilers/ Rangers Under 6

NHL Best Bet #3 - Ducks Win Home Opener

Anaheim enters Tuesday night’s home matchup against Pittsburgh as a slight favorite (-135) after a wild 7–6 overtime win over San Jose. The Ducks have scored 8 goals through two games and converted on 40% of their power-play chances (2-for-5), with Mason McTavish and Leo Carlsson combining for 5 points. Anaheim generated 43 shots in their last outing and showed strong offensive zone pressure, while goaltender John Gibson is expected to start after stopping 36 of 42 shots in the win. The Ducks are 6–2 in their last eight games as a moneyline favorite and have covered in three of their last four home openers.

Pittsburgh comes in at 2–1 but is reeling from a 6–1 loss to the Rangers, where they managed just 19 shots and went 0-for-4 on the power play. Tristan Jarry is projected to start and owns a .902 save percentage through three games, but the Penguins have allowed 9 goals and committed 8 penalties in their last outing. Evgeni Malkin leads the team with 5 assists, but Pittsburgh has struggled historically at Honda Center, dropping three of their last four visits. With Anaheim’s offensive momentum, special teams edge, and home-ice advantage, the Ducks are the sharper side to back in this interconference tilt.
