The Senators aim for their third straight W
The Ottawa Senators started their seven-game road trip following that narrow loss against the Kings. They’ve recorded a couple of 3-2 wins at the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks over the last few days.
Linus Ullmark posted 23 saves against Anaheim, and the Senators overcame a 2-1 deficit. Ullmark had 17 stops versus San Jose, and the Sens overcame a 2-1 deficit once more. Ullmark is now 8-5-4 with a 2.95 GAA and a .877 save percentage in 2025-26, while Leevi Merilainen is 3-1-0 with a 3.53 GAA and a .868 save percentage.
The Senators allow 3.29 goals per game (25th in the NHL). Their penalty killing has been awful this season (42-for-60, tied for 30th). Yet, the Senators’ defense has improved over the past two weeks. Ottawa has allowed 15 goals in its last seven games (5-1-1 record).
The Sens tally 3.24 goals per game (8th) on a 12.2 shooting percentage (tied for 5th). They are 11th in the league in power-play percentage (16-for-68). Center Tim Stutzle leads the way with 11 goals and 10 assists.
Key Injury Report for Senators
- Winger Brady Tkachuk is still recovering from a thumb injury
- Center Ridly Greig and defenseman Thomas Chabot are considered day-to-day.
The Kings are back to losing ways
The Los Angeles Kings extended their winning streak to four games with that 1-0 road victory over the Senators. Since then, the Kings have dropped three straight contests against the Washington Capitals 2-1, the San Jose Sharks 4-3 in a shootout, and the Boston Bruins 2-1 in overtime.
Last Friday, the Kings outshot the Bruins 32-26, but Jeremy Swayman and Morgan Geekie lifted Boston over LA. Swayman posted 31 saves, while Geekie scored two goals. Darcy Kuemper gave up two goals on 26 shots and fell to 7-4-4 on the season.
Kuemper holds a solid 2.38 GAA and a .906 save percentage in 2025-26, while Anton Forsberg is 3-2-2 with a 2.94 GAA and a .888 save percentage. Forsberg posted his first shutout of the season against the Senators.
The Kings allow 2.68 goals per game (5th in the NHL) and score 2.68 goals in return (tied for 28th). Winger Adrian Kempe leads the charge with seven goals and 13 assists, while fellow winger Quinton Byfield has amassed four goals and 13 assists.
Key Injury Report for Kings
- The Kings miss defenseman Drew Doughty (lower body).
Senators vs. Kings Pick
Moneyline Pick for Senators vs. Kings
- Los Angeles Kings -150 (5 units)
The Kings have been awful at home this season (1-4-3 record). They will turn the corner eventually, and I think that Monday’s clash against the Senators is a nice opportunity for the Kings to break out of their funk.
Los Angeles plays solid defense and has a top-notch goalie in Darcy Kuemper, who boasts a 1.87 GAA and a .921 save percentage in November. The Kings desperately need more from their offense, and while the Senators’ defense has improved, Ottawa’s penalty killing is still a big issue.
Over the last few years, the Kings have dominated the Senators. Ottawa has only won two of its previous 10 encounters with Los Angeles.
Over/Under Pick for Senators vs. Kings
- Under 5.5 (5 units)
I can only look at the under when it comes to the total in this game. Ottawa and Los Angeles combined for just 35 shots nine days ago. As I noted, the Sens’ defense has been playing well of late, and the Kings lean on their blueline and goaltending.
Darcy Kuemper has done a great job so far this month, and Linus Ullmark holds a 2.37 GAA and a .899 save percentage in November. The under is 4-1 in the Senators’ last five games overall, while five of the Kings’ previous seven games with Kuemper in the crease have seen fewer than six goals on the scoreboard.
