Ottawa is led by a great offense

The Senators have turned their season around thanks to their offense, averaging 3.33 goals per game with 16 goals in their last three games. Tim Stutzle, Drake Batherson, and Dylan Cozens have scored 62 goals and 82 assists while Jake Sanderson has added 10 goals and 34 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has stepped up but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.28 goals per game. Jake Sanderson and Artem Zub have combined for 6.2 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. In addition, goaltender James Reimer has struggled in his recent starts, allowing 10 goals in his last three.

Key injury report for Senators

  • Thomas Chabot is day to day. Is a key part of the defense.

Penguins are led by a great offense

The Penguins are having a great season thanks to their offense, which is scoring 3.40 goals per game with 25 goals in the last five games. Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Antony Mantha have scored 59 goals and 81 assists while defensemen Erik Karlsson have added four goals and 30 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has carried the Penguins but the defense has also stepped up, allowing only 2.87 goals per game. Ryan Shea and Erik Karlsson have combined for 6.7 defensive point shares while Parker Wotherspoon and Brett Kulak have combined for 4.1 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. The hope is that goaltender Stuart Skinner improves as he’s struggled lately, allowing seven goals in his last two starts.

Senators vs Penguins Pick

Money Line Pick For Senators vs Penguins

  • Penguins (-105) (4 units)

This will be a great game between two red-hot teams. The Senators have won three games in a row but the Penguins have a six-game winning streak and look to dominate on their home ice. The Penguins, who average 3.40 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone while creating open shots with quick passes. The Penguins, who allow only 2.87 goals per game, should limit the Senators offense with Ryan Shea, Erik Karlsson, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone while limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Stuart Skinner to make plenty of big saves. The Penguins should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice.

Take the Penguins money line as home Favorites.

Over/Under Pick For Senators vs Penguins

  • Over 6.5 (5 Units)

Both teams are led by their offenses, and this game looks to be a high-scoring one from the opening puck drop. The Senators, who average 3.33 goals per game, should pile on the goals with Tim Stutzle, Drake Batherson, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone while creating open shots with quick passes. The Penguins, who have scored 25 goals in their last five games, should run up the score against the Senators, who allow 3.28 goals per game, with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Anthony Mantha, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence while creating open shots with effective puck movement as Erik Karlsson picks apart the Senators offense from the point. The Over should cover in a high-scoring game controlled by both offenses.

Take the Over on 6.5 goals.
