The Philadelphia Flyers head to Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN, on Thursday night to face off against the Nashville Predators in a cross-conference showdown with the puck drop at 8:00 PM ET, so we’ve prepared the Flyers vs. Predators prediction to get you covered.
Philadelphia and Nashville wrap up their two-game regular-season series. Last Thursday, the Flyers beat the Predators as -155 home favorites, and the game went under the 5.5-goal line.
The Flyers aim for their fourth straight victory over the Predators. It’s a pick ‘em contest with a total of 5.5 goals, so let’s take a closer look at this Flyers vs. Predators prediction, one of our NHL picks for Thursday’s slate.
The Flyers lean on their defense
The Philadelphia Flyers snapped their two-game skid last Tuesday. After consecutive home defeats against the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2 and the Calgary Flames 2-1, the Flyers outlasted the Montreal Canadiens 5-4 in a shootout away from home.

Philadelphia outshot Montreal 42-20, but the Flyers blew a 3-0 lead before Nikita Grebenkin forced overtime with his first goal of the season. Bobby Brink scored two goals for the Flyers, while Trevor Zegras made a couple of dishes and scored the winner in a shootout.
With Samuel Ersson on the IR, Dan Vladar took over as the starting goalie for Philadelphia. Vladar gave up four goals on 20 shots at Montreal, but he stopped all three of the Canadiens’ attempts in a shootout. He’s now 5-3-0 with a strong 2.33 GAA and a .912 save percentage in 2025-26.
The Flyers allow 2.69 goals per game (tied for 8th in the NHL). They boast the sixth-best penalty-killing percentage in the league (87.0%). However, the Flyers score just 2.69 goals in return (tied for 26th) on a 10.8 shooting percentage (17th).
The Predators continue to struggle
The Nashville Predators have only won one of their previous six games overall. After stopping a three-game slide with a 4-2 victory over the Calgary Flames, the Predators have dropped consecutive games in overtime against the Vancouver Canucks 5-4 at home, and the Minnesota Wild 3-2 on the road.
Last Tuesday, the Predators outshot the Wild 34-24, but Filip Gustavsson had a big game in the crease for Minnesota. Matthew Wood and Steven Stamkos found the back of the net for Nashville, while Justus Annunen gave the Wild a winner by knocking the goal out of place.
Annunen fell to 0-2-1 on the season. He holds a poor 3.70 GAA and a .861 save percentage. Juuse Saros is expected to return to the crease on Thursday, and the 30-year-old netminder carries a 5-4-3 record with a 2.95 GAA and a .900 save percentage.
The Predators allow 3.40 goals per game (tied for 26th in the NHL) and score just 2.53 goals in return (30th). They’ve only converted seven of their 46 power-play opportunities (tied for 25th) while posting a 9.2 shooting percentage (28th).
Flyers vs. Predators Pick
Moneyline Pick for Flyers vs. Predators
- Philadelphia Flyers (5 units)
The Flyers are arguably a better defensive team than the Predators, though Nashville’s penalty killing has been solid, too (81.6%, 13th in the NHL). But when it comes to five-on-five, the Predators are 30th in the league in expected goals against, whereas the Flyers rank fourth in this category.
Moreover, Juuse Saros has struggled lately, allowing three or more goals in seven of his previous nine starts. Dan Vladar wasn’t at his best last Tuesday, but he was a monster in October, posting a 1.67 GAA and a .939 save percentage across six starts. Give me the Flyers.
Over/Under Pick for Flyers vs. Predators
- Under 5.5 (5 units)
These two teams have struggled to score thus far. They’ve had a few offensive outbursts, but it’s hard to lean on Philadelphia and Nashville to provide a high-scoring affair.
Just seven days ago, the Flyers needed 18 shots to score four goals against the Predators, who netted once on 33 shots. Dan Vladar was excellent for the Flyers, whereas Juuse Saros gave up three goals on 17 shots. The Flyers’ fourth goal was an empty-netter.
I can only look at the under when it comes to the total in this game. Six of the previous seven encounters between Philadelphia and Nashville have gone under. The only thing I don’t like is that 5.5-goal line.
