Pens Grab Big Road Win Against Minnesota

The Penguins are coming off a 4-1 win over Minnesota on October 30, a game where they broke things open with three third-period goals. Bryan Rust continued his strong start with a goal and an assist, while Ryan Shea and Ben Kindel also found the back of the net. Anthony Mantha sealed it with an empty-netter, and Tristan Jarry was sharp, stopping 26 shots. That victory extended Pittsburgh’s point streak to eight games (6-0-2), and they’ve been especially strong on the road, now sitting at 5-1-1 away from home.

Offensively, Pittsburgh has been one of the league’s most dangerous teams, averaging 3.7 goals per game, the highest mark in the NHL. Sidney Crosby continues to anchor the top line, while Evgeni Malkin has been a steady playmaker with 13 assists already. Rust’s production has been a huge boost, and the power play has been clicking at over 31%, second-best in the league. Depth scoring has also been a factor, with contributions from younger players like Kindel and Ville Koivunen. This balance has made the Penguins difficult to defend, as opponents can’t just key in on the stars.

Defensively, the Penguins have been solid, allowing just 2.4 goals per game, seventh-fewest in the league. Jarry has been reliable since returning from the AHL late last season, and the blue line led by Kris Letang and Erik Karlsson has provided both stability and offensive punch. Pittsburgh has also been strong in the faceoff circle, winning over 60% of draws against Minnesota, which helps them control possession. Heading into Winnipeg, the Penguins will need that defensive structure to slow down one of the NHL’s hottest top lines.

Jets Have It Going On Offense

The Jets enter this matchup at 8-3-0, coming off a 6-3 win over the Blackhawks on October 30. Their top line was unstoppable—Gabriel Vilardi scored twice and added an assist, while Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor each posted a goal and two assists. Josh Morrissey and Vladislav Namestnikov also scored, and Jonathan Toews picked up an assist in his first game against his former team. Connor Hellebuyck made 21 saves, and Winnipeg’s offense looked as dangerous as it has all season.

That top line of Connor, Scheifele, and Vilardi has been one of the best in hockey, combining for nine points against Chicago and driving the Jets’ attack. Winnipeg is averaging 3.6 goals per game, sixth in the league, and their power play has been efficient, converting at nearly 28%. Morrissey continues to be a force on the back end, contributing offensively while logging heavy minutes. The addition of Toews has also given them a steady veteran presence down the middle, and his faceoff ability has been a key factor in puck possession.

Defensively, Winnipeg has been strong as well, allowing just 2.6 goals per game, ranking fourth in the NHL. Hellebuyck remains one of the league’s most reliable goaltenders, and the blue line led by Morrissey and Dylan DeMelo has been steady in limiting high-danger chances. The Jets have also been disciplined, committing fewer penalties than most teams, which helps keep opponents’ power plays in check. Against Pittsburgh’s lethal man advantage, staying out of the box will be critical.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Winnipeg Jets Pick

Penguins vs Jets Moneyline Pick

  • Winnipeg -168 (5 Units)

Backing Winnipeg here makes a lot of sense given how dominant their top line has been. Gabriel Vilardi, Mark Scheifele, and Kyle Connor have been piling up points, combining for nine in their last outing against Chicago, and they’ve been driving play at both even strength and on the power play. Add in Josh Morrissey’s steady presence on the blue line and Connor Hellebuyck’s reliability in net, and the Jets have the kind of balance that can frustrate even a red-hot Penguins team. Playing at home, where Winnipeg has been tough to beat, only strengthens their case.

Pittsburgh has been rolling offensively, but Winnipeg’s defensive structure and goaltending give them a real edge in this matchup. The Jets are allowing just 2.6 goals per game, one of the best marks in the league, and they’ve been disciplined about staying out of the penalty box—critical against a Penguins power play that’s been lethal. If Winnipeg can control the pace and keep Crosby and Malkin from dictating shifts, their depth and finishing ability should tilt this one in their favor.

Penguins vs Jets Over/Under Pick

  • Over 6 (4 Units)

The over 6 looks appealing here because both Pittsburgh and Winnipeg are among the league’s most efficient scoring teams, each averaging well over three and a half goals per game. The Penguins’ power play has been lethal, converting at over 30%, while the Jets’ top line of Scheifele, Connor, and Vilardi has been producing at an elite clip. Both clubs also thrive in transition, which often leads to high-event hockey and plenty of quality chances. With so much offensive talent on the ice and two teams that can trade goals quickly, this matchup has all the makings of one that pushes past six.
