Use Code WWWC Seattle Kraken (12-14-6) vs. San Jose Sharks (17-15-3)
The 2025-26 NHL season continues Saturday, December 20, with the Seattle Kraken facing off against the San Jose Sharks in the Pacific Division showdown at SAP Center at San Jose, and we’ve got the Kraken vs. Sharks prediction to get you prepared.
Seattle and San Jose wrap up their three-game regular-season series. They split the previous two encounters, both of which took place at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. The Sharks routed the Kraken 6-1 on November 5, and Seattle responded with a 4-1 victory 10 days later.
Let’s take a closer look at this Kraken vs. Sharks prediction, one of our NHL picks for Saturday’s slate. San Jose opens as a slight -115 moneyline fave with a total of 6.0 goals, and the puck drop is set at 10:00 PM ET.
The Kraken are slumping big-time
The Seattle Kraken have dropped 10 of their previous 11 games overall, and each of these 10 losses has come in regulation. The slumping Kraken are on a four-game losing streak. During that stretch, Seattle has recorded a couple of road losses at the Utah Mammoth 5-3 and the Calgary Flames 4-2, and a pair of home defeats to the Buffalo Sabres 3-1 and the Colorado Avalanche 5-3.

The Kraken have alternated goalies over their last seven outings. Joey Daccord is 1-4-0 with an ugly 3.67 GAA and a .879 save percentage in December, while Philipp Grubauer has gone 0-3-0 with a 3.72 GAA and a .884 save percentage so far this month. Last Thursday, Daccord yielded three goals on 45 shots in that 4-2 loss at Calgary.
Seattle allows 3.09 goals per game (tied for 18th in the league) and scores just 2.47 goals in return (31st). Winger Jordan Eberle leads the charge for the Kraken with 10 goals and 10 assists, while defenseman Vince Dunn has accounted for five goals and 14 assists this season.
The Kraken miss some very important players. Center Jaden Schwartz (G8, A7) and winger Jared McCann (G5, A3) are both on the IR, while defenseman Brandon Montour (G6, A10) sat out the Flames game due to an undisclosed injury and is questionable for Saturday’s clash against San Jose.
The Sharks’ win streak is over
The San Jose Sharks put an end to their three-game winning streak last Thursday. After beating the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 in overtime, the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-5 in overtime, and the Calgary Flames 6-3, the Sharks suffered a 5-3 home loss against the mighty Dallas Stars.
San Jose outshot Dallas 37-30 on the night, but it wasn’t enough. The Sharks went 0-for-3 with the man advantage and had a whopping 21 giveaways. Winger Collin Graf scored a couple of goals for San Jose, while Alex Nedeljkovic yielded four goals on 29 shots.
Nedeljkovic is now 5-7-2 with a 3.01 GAA and a .899 save percentage in 2025-26, while Yaroslav Askarov carries a 12-8-1 record with a 3.23 GAA and a .902 save percentage. Askarov is expected to guard the cage Saturday against Seattle, and he’s gone 3-2-0 with a hideous 4.19 GAA and a .873 save percentage this month.
The Sharks allow 3.34 goals per game (tied for 25th in the NHL) and score 2.97 goals in return (19th). Center Macklin Celebrini leads the way with 18 goals and 35 assists. The Sharks have injury problems, too. They cannot count on defenseman Vincent Desharnais (A2) and centers Will Smith (G12, A17) and Philipp Kurashev (G6, A9).
Kraken vs. Sharks Pick
Moneyline Pick for Kraken vs. Sharks
- San Jose Sharks (5 units)
Will Smith’s injury is undoubtedly a huge blow for San Jose. Yet, the Sharks played solid offense against Dallas last Thursday, and it was their defense that let the team down once again. The Stars are an elite offensive team, and it’s impossible to say the same about the Kraken.
Hereof, I’m going with the Sharks. I think they are a better team than Seattle at the moment. Yaroslav Askarov has struggled lately after having a tremendous November, but he’ll get back on track sooner rather than later. The clash against the Kraken’s offense is certainly a great opportunity for Askarov to bounce back.
Over/Under Pick for Kraken vs. Sharks
- Under 6.0 (5 units)
The Kraken’s offense has struggled a lot this season, and in the last six games, Seattle has accounted for 13 goals. Just two of those six games have produced more than six goals in total.
On the other side, the Sharks’ offense has been solid lately, tallying 23 goals over the last six games. Yet, three of those six contests have seen fewer than six goals on the scoreboard.
I have to take the under, given the way Seattle’s offense has been playing lately. The Kraken will probably go with Joey Daccord in the net, and Daccord hasn’t allowed more than three goals in three straight starts.
