The Golden Knights are coming off a tough loss
No team has dropped more games past regulation than the Vegas Golden Knights, who just failed to extend their winning streak to three games. After beating the New York Rangers 3-2 and the Utah Mammoth 4-1, the Golden Knights suffered a 4-3 overtime defeat at the Anaheim Ducks.
Vegas had a 2-0 lead after just 4:37 of play at Honda Center in Anaheim, but the Ducks needed less than four minutes to tie the game. The Golden Knights retook the lead late in the first period, and the Ducks tied the game again in the second.
Akira Schmid gave up four goals on 33 shots against Anaheim. He’s now 9-1-3 with a 2.45 GAA and a .902 save percentage in 2025-26, while Carl Lindbom is 0-3-2 with a 3.18 GAA and a .874 save percentage.
The Golden Knights are without their starting goalie, Adin Hill (lower body). They allow 2.81 goals per game (10th in the NHL) and score 3.19 goals in return (also 10th). Jack Eichel leads the way for Vegas with 10 goals and 19 assists. He had two goals and an assist against Utah last Thursday.
The Mammoth just stopped a four-game slide
The Utah Mammoth have struggled a lot lately, winning just two of their previous nine games overall. Last Saturday, the Mammoth put an end to their four-game losing streak with a 3-2 home victory over the New York Rangers.
The Mammoth outshot the Rangers 34-22, overcoming a 2-1 deficit in the process. JJ Peterka, Clayton Keller, and Nick DeSimone found the back of the net for Utah, while Karel Vejmelka posted 20 saves to advance to 9-5-2 on the season.
Vejmelka holds a 2.87 GAA and a .884 save percentage, while Vitek Vanecek is 2-3-1 with a 2.85 GAA and a .873 save percentage. Utah allows 3.05 goals per game (tied for 17th in the NHL) and scores 3.00 goals in return (tied for 19th).
Nick Schmaltz leads the way for Utah with 10 goals and 12 assists. Keller has amassed eight goals and 12 assists, while Peterka has accounted for nine goals and seven dishes.
Golden Knights vs. Mammoth Pick
Moneyline Pick for Golden Knights vs. Mammoth
- Vegas Golden Knights -115 (5 units)
The Golden Knights outplayed the Mammoth last Thursday. Vegas took seven more shots than Utah, and Jack Eichel tortured the Mammoth’s defense. Akira Schmid had a great night in the crease, and he should get another starting call on Monday night.
The Mammoth will continue to lean on Karel Vejmelka, who’s allowed 12 goals over his last four starts. Utah’s offense has struggled over the previous five games, tallying 10 goals in that stretch, so I’m going with the Golden Knights. The Mammoth have scored more than three goals just once in their last 13 outings.
Over/Under Pick for Golden Knights vs. Mammoth
- Under 6.0 (5 units)
As I noted, Utah’s offense doesn’t look good. The Mammoth are 28th in the NHL in power-play percentage (9-for-63) and 23rd in shooting percentage (10.3%). On the other side, the Golden Knights rank eighth in power-play percentage (18-for-74) and 20th in shooting percentage (10.7%).
Akira Schmid has done a great job for the Golden Knights this season. Karel Vejmelka hasn’t been at his best, but hasn’t been bad either. Vegas and Utah combined for five goals last Thursday, and I expect them to stay under a six-goal line once more.
