The Jets hope to snap a two-game skid
The Winnipeg Jets have struggled over their previous two outings. After putting an end to their three-game winning streak with a 3-0 defeat at the Los Angeles Kings, the Jets lost at the San Jose Sharks 2-1 this past Friday.
Connor Hellebuyck gave up two goals on 26 shots at LA last Tuesday, and his teammates failed to score on 23 shots. Against the Sharks, Hellebuyck yielded two goals on 27 shots, while the Jets scored just one goal on 33 shots and blew a lead.
Hellebuyck is now 6-5-0 with a strong 2.30 GAA and a .922 save percentage in 2025-26. Eric Comrie has been excellent across three starts thus far, posting three wins with a 2.33 GAA and a .929 save percentage.
The Jets allow just 2.50 goals per game (tied for 3rd in the NHL) and score 3.29 goals in return (12th). Mark Scheifele leads the charge with nine goals and 11 assists, while Kyle Connor has amassed eight goals and nine assists. The Jets are without winger Gustav Nyquist (A5).
The Ducks are a pleasant surprise
The Anaheim Ducks were looking for their sixth straight victory when they took on the Golden Knights on Saturday night. Anaheim is one of the most pleasant surprises of the season, and the mighty Ducks were topping the Pacific Division on Saturday morning, two points above Vegas.
During their five-game winning streak, the Ducks have scored a staggering 25 goals. Lukas Dostal has guarded the cage in each of those five tilts, and the 25-year-old was 7-3-1 with a 2.81 GAA and a .904 save percentage on Saturday morning.
Petr Mrazek (2-0-0; 5.52 GAA; .831 SV%) was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, which means that Dostal will patrol the crease against the Jets on Sunday. Last Thursday, Dostal yielded five goals on 26 shots in a 7-5 road victory against the Dallas Stars.
The Ducks allow 3.23 goals per game (22nd in the league) and score 4.15 goals in return (1st). Leo Carlsson, Cutter Gauthier, and Troy Terry have combined for 22 goals and 33 assists so far this season. Center Mikael Granlund (G2, A6) is out with a lower-body injury.
Jets vs. Ducks Pick
Moneyline Pick for Jets vs. Ducks
- Winnipeg Jets (5 units)
This is a tough spot for the Ducks, who will play without rest after a tough road matchup against the Golden Knights. The Ducks’ offense has been sensational so far this season, but they have issues on the defensive side of the puck, and the Jets will break out of their funk sooner rather than later.
As I noted, the Jets have only scored one goal over their last two outings. I expect them to get things going against the Ducks, who allow 29.8 shots per game. Anaheim’s penalty killing has struggled, too. The Ducks are 22nd in the league in penalty killing (75.0%), whereas the Jets rank third in this category (89.5%).
Over/Under Pick for Jets vs. Ducks
- Over 6.0 (5 units)
The Ducks’ offense has been so good that six of their previous eight games have seen at least seven goals on the scoreboard. Lukas Dostal is doing a solid job, but as I mentioned, the Ducks are allowing too many shots per game.
Hereof, I will go with the over even though the Jets lean on their defense and goaltending. I expect the Jets’ offense to show up after a couple of rough outings, and the Ducks should be able to add to the scoreboard. Anaheim is ninth in the NHL in power-play percentage (22.2%), while Winnipeg is 11th in this category (21.7%).
