The 2025-26 NHL season goes on Friday, November 7, with the Winnipeg Jets taking on the San Jose Sharks in the Western Conference showdown at SAP Center at San Jose, and we’ve got you covered with our Jets vs. Sharks prediction.
Winnipeg meets San Jose for the first time this term, as they start a three-game series. Last season, the Jets swept their three-game series against the Sharks (8-3, 4-3, and 2-1 OT), and Winnipeg is undefeated in five straight meetings with San Jose.

The Jets look for a bounce-back performance
The Winnipeg Jets put an end to their three-game winning streak last Tuesday. After beating the Minnesota Wild 4-3 in overtime, the Chicago Blackhawks 6-3, and the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2, the Jets suffered a 3-0 defeat at the Los Angeles Kings.

The Jets took just 23 shots toward Darcy Kuemper, failing to score for the second time this season. Back in October, the Jets suffered a 3-0 home loss to the Seattle Kraken. Connor Hellebuyck gave up two goals on 25 shots against the Kings, falling to 6-4-0 on the season.
Hellebuyck holds a strong 2.31 GAA and a .921 save percentage, while Eric Comrie is 3-0-0 with a 2.33 GAA and a .929 save percentage this season. The Jets allow 2.54 goals per game (4th in the NHL) and score 3.46 goals in return (9th).
Center Mark Scheifele leads the way for the Jets with nine goals and 11 assists, while winger Kyle Connor has accounted for eight goals and nine assists so far this season. The Jets cannot count on center Morgan Barron (G3, A3) and winger Gustav Nyquist (A5).
The Sharks are fighting bravely
The San Jose Sharks started their 2025-26 campaign with a six-game losing streak. Since then, the Sharks have gone 5-2-1, as their young core is slowly but surely starting to figure things out.
Last Wednesday, the Sharks dismantled the Seattle Kraken as +140 road underdogs. Macklin Celebrini amassed two assists and a goal, Will Smith had a goal and an assist, while Yaroslav Askarov gave up just one goal on 30 shots.
Askarov is now 3-4-1 with a 3.88 GAA and a .879 save percentage in 2025-26. The 23-year-old netminder has only allowed three goals over his previous two starts. Askarov shares the crease with Alex Nedeljkovic, who’s 2-2-2 with a 3.29 GAA and a .895 save percentage.
The Sharks allow 3.79 goals per game (30th) and score 3.43 goals in return (10th). Macklin Celebrini is having a wonderful sophomore season, and the 19-year-old center has already accounted for eight goals and 13 assists across 14 games. Rookie center Michael Misa (G1, A2) is sidelined with a lower-body injury, while winger William Eklund (G5, A6) is questionable for Friday’s clash against Winnipeg.
Jets vs. Sharks Pick
Spread Pick for Jets vs. Sharks
- Winnipeg Jets -1.5 (5 units)
The Sharks have been one of the worst teams in the league over the last few years. They decided to turn the corner in 2025-26, and San Jose is arguably one of the most exciting teams to watch in the NHL at the moment. The Sharks can score, but their defense is an issue.
On the other side, the Jets are coming off a 3-0 loss at LA, and they will be highly motivated to bounce back and score some goals against the Sharks. Winnipeg’s defense is good enough to slow down the Sharks a bit, so I’m backing the Jets to beat the puckline. I expect the Jets’ offense to show up following an ugly display against the Kings.
Over/Under Pick for Jets vs. Sharks
- Over 6.0 (5 units)
The Sharks’ blueline is arguably thin, and it’s hard to trust their goaltenders to consistently play well. San Jose’s penalty killing has been pretty bad thus far (71.7%, 26th in the NHL), whereas Winnipeg boasts the third-best penalty-killing percentage in the league (88.7%).
Both teams are solid with the man advantage. The Sharks just scored six goals against the Kraken despite missing William Eklund, so they should help the over backers when the Jets come to town. I expect at least six goals in total in this game.
