Farès Ziam vs Axel Sola Picks, Prediction, Odds, and Line Movement for Saturday September 5 2026

Farès Ziam and Axel Sola meet in an all-French lightweight co-main event Saturday at UFC Paris. Ziam is the more experienced UFC fighter, while Sola has quickly established himself as one of the division’s more interesting newcomers after three Octagon appearances.

Both men weighed 155 pounds Friday. Ziam enters with an 18-5 record and Sola is 12-1-1, with the market making Ziam a modest favorite.

Farès Ziam vs Axel Sola Preview

Ziam’s six-fight winning streak ended with a unanimous-decision loss to Tom Nolan in June. Before that setback, he had built one of the division’s quieter runs, beating Mike Davis, Matt Frevola, Claudio Puelles, Jai Herbert and others.

UFC statistics show the foundation of that success. Ziam lands 2.68 significant strikes per minute while absorbing only 1.58, with 64 percent significant-strike defense and 71 percent takedown defense. His wins are often built on controlling the quality of exchanges rather than simply producing more volume.

Sola is 12-1-1 with six knockout wins and two submissions. He stopped Rhys McKee in his UFC debut, then lost a competitive decision to Mason Jones in March before rebounding with a first-round D’Arce choke of Ismael Bonfim in July. That sequence matters because it shows he can handle a longer UFC fight and then make a rapid tactical adjustment in his next appearance. The quick return to Paris gives him recent momentum and a broader finishing threat than a simple striker label suggests.

Striking Matchup

Ziam is the more economical kickboxer. His long frame and 75-inch reach allow him to score from outside while staying difficult to hit cleanly. He is especially effective when opponents become impatient and start crossing distance without a layered setup.

Sola produces more activity. UFC lists him at 4.50 significant strikes landed per minute, but he also absorbs 4.53. That creates the core tactical contrast: Sola wants more exchanges, while Ziam wants better exchanges.

If Ziam controls range and keeps Sola from building combinations in the clinch, the fight should become increasingly favorable to his measured style.

Wrestling and Grappling

Both fighters can wrestle. Ziam averages 1.86 takedowns per 15 minutes, and Sola has shown that his grappling is dangerous enough to finish UFC-level opponents. His submission of Bonfim is particularly relevant because it forces Ziam to respect transitions instead of treating every clinch as a striking opportunity.

Ziam’s takedown defense and experience navigating three-round UFC fights are important here. He does not need to dominate the wrestling. He needs to stop Sola from turning aggressive exchanges into prolonged control or submission sequences.

Odds and Line Movement

The event-specific Saturday snapshot listed Ziam at -150 and Sola around +134. UFC’s current board has Ziam approximately -150 and Sola +125. Other comparison markets have Ziam in the mid -140s.

The line has therefore remained relatively stable, with only modest support appearing on Sola. The -150 cutoff is exactly where Ziam remains playable under the article’s price rule.

Farès Ziam vs Axel Sola Prediction

Sola is dangerous enough to win every phase for short stretches. Ziam is the more reliable minute-winner. His strike defense, length and experience give him a better chance of controlling where exchanges start and end.

Sola’s pace should create competitive rounds, but it also gives Ziam repeated opportunities to counter and force him to work through a disciplined defensive structure. Ziam’s six-fight streak before the Nolan loss included both decisions and finishes, which is useful evidence that he can adapt when opponents refuse to give him the same type of fight twice.

Prediction: Farès Ziam wins by decision

Best Bet - Farès Ziam ML -150

Ziam’s recent loss lowers the price on a fighter who had won six straight before June. His 64 percent striking defense, 71 percent takedown defense and proven ability to win close UFC rounds make him the more dependable side at a manageable number.

Best Bet: Farès Ziam ML -150

Prediction: Farès Ziam wins by decision
