Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs Montreal Alouettes picks for Saturday, October 3, 2026, close the CFL Week 18 slate at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. Winnipeg is 7-7 after a 30-28 home loss to Toronto, while Montreal returns from a bye at 11-3 with a perfect 7-0 home record and an opportunity to move closer to locking up first place in the East.

Montreal is favored by roughly a touchdown, but the stronger betting angle is the total. Bettors can follow more CFL betting predictions, compare current CFL odds, and review posted CFL player props before kickoff. The Best Bet is Over 58.5 because Montreal’s season scoring profile and the teams’ first meeting both support a game that can reach the 60s.

Best Available Odds for Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs Montreal Alouettes

  • Moneyline: Winnipeg +250, Montreal -315
  • Spread: Winnipeg +6.5 (-110), Montreal -6.5 (-110)
  • Total: Over 58.5 (-110), Under 58.5 (-110)

The side has been relatively stable with Montreal favored by six to 6.5 points. The total is sitting around 58.5 to 59.5. That number is lower than the 72 combined points these teams produced when Winnipeg beat Montreal 44-28 in their first meeting, although the quarterback situation is different this time because Zach Collaros is unavailable.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs Montreal Alouettes Preview

Winnipeg’s biggest change is obvious at quarterback. Collaros is out, leaving Brown to guide a team that is fighting for its playoff position in the crowded West Division. Brown showed both sides of the experience last week against Toronto. Winnipeg moved the ball early, but Brown was held to only 15 passing yards after halftime and threw two second-half interceptions.

That does not mean the Bombers need to become a low-scoring offense. Brown has completed more than 70 percent of his passes this season, and Winnipeg still has one of the league’s most reliable rushing foundations through Brady Oliveira. Oliveira has already passed 1,000 rushing yards and can keep Montreal from playing every snap for the pass.

Winnipeg also knows this defense. The Bombers beat Montreal 44-28 in the first meeting, controlling the football for nearly 38 minutes. Collaros was excellent that night, so the result cannot simply be transferred to Brown, but the broader offensive plan remains useful. Winnipeg can use Oliveira, underneath throws and yards after the catch to extend possessions rather than asking Brown to win exclusively on deep passes.

Montreal is still the more trustworthy offense. The Alouettes average 35.6 points per game and have scored enough to produce a 12-2 Over record, the strongest total profile in the CFL. Davis Alexander has protected the football at a high level throughout the season, and Montreal has enough receiving and rushing balance to attack defenses without becoming predictable.

The Alouettes also come out of a bye with extra preparation. Their last game was a 37-25 win over Hamilton in which the defense forced six turnovers. Montreal built a massive lead before Hamilton scored late, showing how quickly the Alouettes can create separation when the offense and defense work together.

Matchup Breakdown

The strongest argument for the Over is Montreal’s season profile. Twelve of 14 Alouettes games have finished Over, and their combination of scoring efficiency and turnover creation frequently creates extra possessions or short fields. The market is asking for 59 points, which is high but still reachable if Montreal gets into the low-to-mid 30s.

Winnipeg’s total record also leans Over at 8-6. The Bombers do not need Brown to recreate Collaros’ first-meeting performance for the total to cash. A Winnipeg score in the mid-to-high 20s can be enough if Montreal produces its normal offensive output.

The concern is Brown’s second-half performance against Toronto. The Argonauts pressured him, forced turnovers and limited Winnipeg’s passing game after halftime. Montreal has the defensive talent to create similar problems, especially with a week of rest and preparation.

That risk is partially offset by Oliveira. A productive run game can keep Brown out of obvious passing situations and create red-zone opportunities even if the Bombers do not generate many explosive completions. Winnipeg’s urgency in the West race should also prevent the offense from becoming overly conservative if Montreal gets ahead.

The spread is less attractive. Montreal is 10-4 ATS and Winnipeg is 7-7, which clearly favors the Alouettes historically, but the baseline scoring margin is closer to four points than seven. Winnipeg +6.5 has some theoretical cushion, yet backing a road underdog with a backup quarterback against a 7-0 home team is uncomfortable.

Montreal -6.5 has the opposite problem. The Alouettes are the logical straight-up winner, but laying nearly a touchdown requires separation that the projected scoring margin does not guarantee. The total avoids having to decide whether Winnipeg’s urgency is enough to keep the game close.

Game Thesis: Montreal should create enough offense to control the game at home, but Winnipeg still has the rushing game and receiving talent to contribute points with Brown under center. The first meeting reached 72, Montreal is 12-2 to the Over, and Winnipeg is 8-6. Projected final: Montreal 33, Winnipeg 27.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs Montreal Alouettes Best Bet - Total: Over 58.5 (-110)

Over 58.5 is the Best Bet because the total aligns with both teams’ season profiles while remaining below the scoring level from their first meeting. Montreal has been the league’s most reliable Over team at 12-2, and the Alouettes average 35.6 points per game.

Winnipeg’s contribution is the key. Brown struggled after halftime last week, but the Bombers can protect him with Oliveira and a short passing game. Winnipeg has gone Over in eight of 14 games, so its season profile supports rather than fights the Montreal trend.

The biggest risk is the quarterback downgrade from Collaros to Brown. If Montreal controls possession and forces multiple turnovers, Winnipeg may struggle to reach the mid-20s. The current 58.5 still leaves enough room for Montreal to carry a larger share of the scoring burden.

Winnipeg +6.5 has some value relative to a baseline projection closer to Montreal by four, but the situational matchup is difficult. The Bombers are on the road with Brown starting, while Montreal is 7-0 at home and rested after a bye.

Montreal -6.5 is not an automatic answer either because Winnipeg remains desperate in the West playoff race and has already beaten the Alouettes once. The total is the cleaner position.

Montreal is the projected winner, but a moneyline around -315 is far too expensive for a Best Bet. Winnipeg offers a large return, yet backing the road underdog outright requires Brown to outperform a Montreal team that has not lost at home.

The recommendation is to stay away from the moneyline and focus on the scoring environment.

Prediction: Montreal Alouettes 33, Winnipeg Blue Bombers 27
