Las Vegas Aces vs Golden State Valkyries picks for Sunday, October 4, 2026, come from Chase Center in San Francisco, California. Golden State owns home-court advantage as the No. 2 seed, but Las Vegas enters the semifinal opener after sweeping all three regular-season meetings and getting another dominant first-round performance from A'ja Wilson.

Las Vegas is favored by 1.5 points, with the total set at 161.5. Bettors reviewing Sunday's WNBA picks should weigh Golden State's league-best defense and 17-5 home record against an Aces team that went 3-0 in the season series and has had more time to recover from the first round. The available WNBA player props also deserve attention before the 4:00 PM EDT tipoff on NBC and Peacock.

Las Vegas Aces vs Golden State Valkyries Preview

Las Vegas enters the semifinals after surviving a difficult first-round series against Indiana. The Aces won Game 1 comfortably, lost Game 2 on the road and then closed the series with a 94-83 victory in the deciding game. Wilson again controlled the matchup, finishing Game 3 with 36 points and 10 rebounds after scoring 38 in the opener.

That level of production is the central problem for Golden State. The Valkyries were the best defensive team in the league during the regular season, allowing only 75.1 points per game, but Wilson presents a different challenge because she can score from the post, face up from the elbow and punish switches without needing the offense to slow down around her.

Las Vegas also has enough perimeter creation to make constant double teams expensive. Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray both played major roles in the Game 3 win over Indiana, and the Aces can use Wilson's gravity to create cleaner looks for either guard. Golden State cannot simply load the paint and expect the rest of the Las Vegas offense to disappear.

The Valkyries reached the semifinals in a much more dramatic fashion. Golden State trailed Dallas by 16 points in the second half of Friday's deciding Game 3 before closing with a 77-73 comeback win. Gabby Williams scored 19 points, Tiffany Hayes added 18 and Veronica Burton finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

That win reinforced Golden State's identity. The Valkyries do not need a high-scoring game to beat good teams. They can survive stretches of poor offense because Williams, Burton, Kiah Stokes and the rest of the rotation defend well enough to keep the score manageable until the shots begin falling.

The scheduling spot, however, favors Las Vegas. Golden State finished its first-round series Friday night and has roughly 40 hours before Game 1. The Aces completed their series a day earlier, giving them an extra recovery window before traveling to San Francisco.

The regular-season series also belongs completely to Las Vegas. The Aces won all three meetings, taking a 91-81 game at Chase Center before winning 84-79 and 92-73 in Las Vegas. Golden State never reached 82 points in any of the three matchups.

That history matters because the results were not all built the same way. Las Vegas won a relatively close five-point game and also created double-digit separation twice. The Aces found ways to score against Golden State's defense while consistently keeping the Valkyries below their preferred offensive ceiling.

The spread is still short enough that the Aces do not need another comfortable regular-season result. Las Vegas is laying only 1.5 despite the 3-0 season sweep, while Golden State's better seed and home record are already reflected in a near-pick'em price.

The total is more complicated. Golden State played at the slowest pace in the league and built its season around defense, while Las Vegas entered the playoffs with one of the league's strongest offenses. The three regular-season meetings produced 172, 163 and 165 points.

Matchup Breakdown

Golden State's first priority is making Wilson work for catches. Stokes knows the Aces' system well from her years in Las Vegas and can use that familiarity to disrupt timing, but the Valkyries still need help from the guards to prevent easy entry angles. Allowing Wilson to catch deep in the paint is the fastest way for the Aces to control the game.

Las Vegas should also pressure Golden State's perimeter creators. Burton is the primary organizer, while Williams is the most dangerous downhill scorer. If the Aces can keep those two out of transition and force Golden State into longer half-court possessions, the Valkyries' offensive limitations become much more visible.

The WNBA betting trends create a real conflict. Golden State finished 25-17 ATS and was one of the league's most reliable teams against the spread, while Las Vegas finished close to even. The matchup-specific results point the other way because the Aces covered the current -1.5 number in all three regular-season meetings.

The main risk is fatigue affecting Golden State less than expected. The Valkyries are at home, have a deep rotation and have repeatedly won with defense even when their offense is uneven. Las Vegas still has the best individual player in the series and the more favorable rest situation.

Game Thesis: Golden State deserves respect for its defense and home record, but Las Vegas swept the season series, has the best player in Wilson and enters with an extra day of recovery. With the Aces laying only 1.5, the matchup history and current rest advantage make Las Vegas the preferred side.

Las Vegas Aces vs Golden State Valkyries Best Bet - Spread: Las Vegas Aces -1.5

The season series is the strongest starting point. Las Vegas won all three meetings by five, 10 and 19 points, and Golden State never found a consistent way to score enough against the Aces to offset Wilson's production.

Golden State's defense should keep Game 1 competitive, especially at Chase Center, but the short spread does not require Las Vegas to create major separation. The Aces only need to win by two points, and they enter with the more favorable recovery schedule after Golden State's emotional comeback on Friday night.

The number has remained close to Las Vegas -1.5, which keeps the price reasonable rather than forcing bettors to chase a larger favorite after the regular-season sweep. Las Vegas -1.5 is the strongest position.

Prediction: Las Vegas Aces 84, Golden State Valkyries 79
