Las Vegas Defends Title
The Las Vegas Aces are fresh off their 2025 WNBA Championship, where they took down the Phoenix Mercury in a four game sweep. A'ja Wilson won the Finals MVP after averaging 28.5 PPG and 11.8 RPG over the four games. ESPN has the Aces listed as the top team in their power rankings coming into this new season.
Wilson is their 6'4 forward who will go down as one of the best players in WNBA history. She is a three time champion, and two time Finals MVP, while also being a seven time All-Star. Last year Wilson averaged 23.4 PPG and 10.2 RPG and is showing no signs of slowing down as she is still just 29 years old. Jackie Young is back as a four-time All-Star as a 6'0 guard on the wing. Last season Young was their second leading scorer with 16.5 PPG.
Their roster is loaded as Chelsea Gray is a six time All-Star at point guard, and averaged 11.2 PPG and led the team with 5.4 APG last year. Jewell Lloyd is another six time All-Star who just came to Las Vegas last season after playing the majority of her career in Seattle as a high scoring guard.

Sparks Look For New Start
The Los Angeles Sparks missed the playoffs last season, and look for a fresh start as they brought back some of their top talent while adding in some new names. Kelsey Plum is back as their top scoring guard and best outside shooter, last season she led the team with 19.5 PPG, and knocked down 2.3 threes per game on 35.5% shooting from deep. Plum will be playing her former team, as she played with Wilson and the Aces for the majority of her career.
The Sparks are still waiting for Cameron Brink to reach her potential, as injuries have been an issue in her career and she only played in 19 games last season. The 6'4 forward can be a game changer if she can stay healthy. Nneka Ogwumike has returned to the Sparks after playing the last two years in Seattle, the 35-year old forward has been a double digit scorer her entire career, and averaged 18.3 PPG last season.
Dearica Hamby is back after averaging 18.4 PPG and 7.9 RPG, and the team is hoping Ta'Niya Latson can provide a scoring punch after being selected 20th overall in the WNBA Draft out of South Carolina.
Aces vs. Sparks Picks and Predictions
Spread pick for Aces vs. Sparks
- Sparks (5 units)
Los Angeles will be the sharp side on this one, as most will expect the Aces to continue their dominance throughout the season. The problem here is that Las Vegas will be on the tail end of a back to back to start the season. This is a tall task, and what makes it even worse is that there is travel involved, as the Aces will be in Las Vegas on Saturday. Los Angeles missed the playoffs last season, but that was partially due to injuries, the team is healthy and will have Plum, Hamby, Ogwumike and Brink all available. The Sparks catch the Aces in a tough spot here.
Take the Sparks to cover.
Over/Under Pick for Aces vs. Sparks
- Under (4 units)
The opening of the season will be slow, as the Aces have to manage the back to back with travel, and the Sparks are working in new talent and need to find their chemistry. Las Vegas has a strong defense, which will travel to Los Angeles and try to smother their offensive approach. Fatigue will play a factor early, as the Aces are not yet in the swing of the season to excel in back to backs. This game is loaded with strong forwards with length at the rim, points will be hard to come by.
Take the under.
