Minnesota has clinched No. 1 seed in WNBA playoffs

Minnesota is 32-8 overall this season. They are in first place in the league by six games ahead of the Aces. There is less than 10 days left in the regular season as the Lynx look to try to close out the season on a high note. There isn’t much to play for with the Lynx as they have already clinched the best record in basketball. They have a 13-6 record when playing on the road this year. They have won four of their last five games coming into Thursday night. In their last game, they defeated Dallas 96-71 on Monday, Sept. 1. The Lynx are 3-0 against Las Vegas this season.

The Lynx are lead in scoring by Napheesa Collier with 23.5 points per game. She is also grabbing a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game. Courtney Williams is passing a team-high 6.3 assists per game.

Minnesota leads the league in scoring with 86.7 points per game. They are shooting 47.4% from the field and 38.4% from behind the 3-point line which is the best mark in the league.

On defense, Minnesota is allowing 76.9 points per game which ranks second best in the sport. They are forcing their opponents to shoot 42.2% from the field, which ranks third best. Opponents are shooting 33.4% from behind the 3-point line, which ranks eighth in the sport.

Minnesota is 24-15-1 against the spread this season. They are 11-8 against the spread when they have played on the road. The Lynx are 10-7-1 against the spread when they have been a single-digit favorite. The over is 20-18-2 when Minnesota has played this year. The over is 10-8-1 when the Lynx have played on the road.

DiJonai Carrington and Kayla McBride are both questionable for Thursday’s game.

Las Vegas battling for No. 2 seed for WNBA playoffs

Las Vegas is 26-14 overall this season. They are six games back of the Aces, who have already clinched the No. 1 seed. The big race for the Aces is for the No. 2 seed. They are tied for second place with Atlanta and Phoenix. Las Vegas is 14-5 when they have played at home. The Aces are playing some of their best basketball at the moment as they are on a heater at the moment. Las Vegas has won 12 straight games coming into Thursday’s game. They have also won 14 of their last 15 games, too. The Aces are coming off of an 81-75 win against the Dream on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

A’ja Wilson leads the team with 23.4 points per game and she’s grabbing a team-high 10.1 rebounds per game. Chelsea Gray is passing a team-high 5.2 assists per game.

Las Vegas is averaging 82.7 points per game which ranks seventh in the league. They are shooting 43.1% from the field, ranking ninth. The Aces are the sixth ranked 3-point shooting team making 34% from beyond the arc.

On defense, Las Vegas is allowing 81.7 points per game which ranks eighth. They are allowing 43.7% to be made from the field, ranking sixth. Las Vegas is also the third best 3-point defensive team, allowing 32.2% from behind the arc.

Las Vegas is 20-19-1 against the spread this season. They are 9-9-1 against the spread when they have played at home. The Aces have covered in six of their last nine home games. They are 4-6 against the spread when they have been underdogs. The under is 21-19 when Las Vegas has played this year. The over is 11-8 when the Aces have played at home.

Minnesota Lynx -1 (5 units)

This is going to be a close game between two of the top teams in the league on Thursday. The Lynx have clinched the No. 1 seed in the sport with their 32-8 record. They have won four of their last five games. The Aces have rocketed up the standings as they are in the No. 2 position after winning 12 straight games. They have also won 14 of their last 15 games. But, Minnesota has had Las Vegas’ number all season long winning all three matchups. Even with Las Vegas’ great form, I think it comes to an end against the best team in the sport. Minnesota’s No. 1 ranked offense and their defense that allows the second fewest points is just too well-rounded. Las Vegas is also just 4-6 against the spread as an underdog. The Lynx are 10-7-1 against the spread as a single-digit favorite.

Take Minnesota to cover.

These two teams love to control the tempo at a slower pace. They are both methodical and like to run the shot clock. The Lynx are the third slowest team in the league while Las Vegas ranks seventh in pace. The under is 21-19 during Las Vegas games this season. The under is 3-1-1 during Minnesota’s last five road games.

Take the under on Thursday.
