Germany should win, but Ivory Coast's pace and World Cup scoring history make both teams scoring the strongest position.

Germany and Ivory Coast meet in Toronto on Saturday after both opened Group E with victories. Germany overwhelmed Curaçao 7-1, while Ivory Coast defeated Ecuador 1-0 with a late winner. The latest World Cup betting trends have cooled on underdog handicaps, but both teams scoring remains profitable and fits this matchup.

Quick Predictions

  • Match Result: Germany moneyline, around -200
  • Match Handicap: Ivory Coast +1.5, around -175 to -186
  • Both Teams to Score: Yes, around -140
  • Projected Final Score: Germany 2, Ivory Coast 1

Germany vs Ivory Coast Odds and Line Movement

Market Germany Draw Ivory Coast
Moneyline Around -200 +325 to +350 +475
Spread -1.5, +130 to +144 N/A +1.5, -175 to -186
Total 2.5 Over around -175 / Under around +138

Germany remains a 1.5-goal favorite, but the price on the favorite spread is still plus money. Ivory Coast +1.5 has become more expensive, moving from roughly -175 toward -186 at some books. The over at 2.5 is heavily juiced.

The market expects Germany to win and the match to reach three goals, but it is less convinced about a multi-goal margin. That distinction supports a 2-1 prediction rather than another German blowout.

Ivory Coast Has the Speed Germany Did Not Face

Germany's 7-1 opener showed how quickly Julian Nagelsmann's team can turn pressure into goals. Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, and the wide attackers created repeated overloads against a Curaçao side that could not escape its own half.

Ivory Coast is a much stronger opponent. Nicolas Pépé provides direct speed, Franck Kessié can compete physically in midfield, and the African champions are comfortable attacking the space behind aggressive full-backs.

Emmanuel Agbadou is suspended, which weakens the Ivorian defensive rotation. Elye Wahi is also unavailable. Those absences increase Germany's scoring probability, but Ivory Coast still has enough attacking quality to threaten a German defence that conceded to Curaçao.

Game state will decide the handicap. If Germany scores early, Ivory Coast has enough pace to attack rather than simply protect goal difference. That creates the chance for both teams to score, but it also leaves space for Germany to add a second. If the match stays level through the opening half hour, the underdog can force Germany into a more patient game than it faced against Curaçao.

Germany also has to manage the emotional swing from a seven-goal victory to a match against a continental champion. The favorite cannot assume that every early shot will become a clear chance. Ivory Coast's midfield can contest second balls and make Germany defend after losing possession.

Both teams have scored in 19 of 31 matches for +9.01 units. Over 3.5 remains profitable at 12-19 because the winning prices have been large, while favorite moneylines are 18-13 but still slightly negative.

The underdog +1.5 market has deteriorated to 18-13 and -3.34 units. Ivory Coast's handicap case therefore comes from its quality and Germany's aggressive structure, not a broad tournament system.

Ivory Coast's 10 World Cup matches since 2006 produced over 2.5 goals eight times and both teams scoring seven times. Eight of the 10 still stayed under 3.5, which creates a strong 2-1 or 3-1 scoring range.

Germany's seven matches since 2018 split 2-5 on over 2.5 before the Curaçao result changed the sample. The team went only 2-4 as a favorite in that pre-tournament window, showing that its reputation often created a larger price than the performance justified.

Germany vs Ivory Coast Best Bets

Germany moneyline: Germany has the deeper squad and should control more of the match. The price is far more reasonable than laying -1.5.

Ivory Coast +1.5: The juice is heavy, but the underdog has the pace to score and enough midfield strength to prevent Germany from creating another seven-goal game.

Both Teams to Score Yes: Ivory Coast's World Cup history and Germany's aggressive positioning make this the best expression of the matchup.

Final Score Prediction

Germany 2, Ivory Coast 1. Germany creates more chances and wins, but Ivory Coast scores in transition and stays inside the handicap.

How to Bet Germany vs Ivory Coast

Both teams to score is the preferred straight wager. Germany moneyline is the safer result position, while Ivory Coast +1.5 is expensive but still aligned with the predicted score.
