The LA Dodgers continue their six-game season-ending homestand against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers have the best record in baseball and are cruising to another playoff berth while the Rockies sit in last place in the National League West. First pitch in the third game of this six-game series is set for 4:10 p.m. ET.

Long season coming to end for Rockies

Thankfully, the season is almost over for the Rockies. They had a pretty miserable season that found them in last place for most of the year. And by their play down the stretch, you can tell they just want it to end. Not counting Saturday's game, they had lost 6 in a row and 10 of their last 11 games and sit firmly in last place in the NL West.

On Sunday they hand the ball to German Marquez. The right-hander is 8-13 on the season with a gaudy 5.12 ERA in 30 starts. he has 142 strikeouts and 60 walks in 175.2 innings of work. But Marquez actually pitched okay in his last start, allowing 3 runs in 6 innings with 6 strikeouts in a 5-2 loss to the Giants. The Rockies have a team ERA of 5.12, which is last in the major. The bullpen has an ERA of 4.83, which is also last in all of baseball.

Winning is easy for the Dodgers

The LA Dodgers have been on cruise control for what seems like half the season now. They are a juggernaut with 109 wins as of Saturday and they own a gaudy 23-game lead over the second-place team in the NL West -- a playoff team I might add -- the Padres. And even though they have long since clinched, they just keep winning baseball games.

On Friday, in the series opener, they blasted the Rockies 10-1 -- that's after taking 2 of three from the Padres. In their last 8 games, they have won 6 of them. On Sunday, they'll look to add another W in the win column as Tyler Anderson takes the hill with a 15-4 record. In addition to that sparkling win-loss record, the left-hander has a minuscule 2.54 ERA. This Dodgers organization just seems to churn out the best pitchers year after year.

Insiders Status:

I know the Dodgers have nothing to play for, but they have really had nothing to play for for most of the season -- as they had such a big lead. They can't overtake the 2001 Mariners and 1906 Cubs for most wins in a season with 116, but they can catch the 1998 Yankees, who had 114 wins, the 1954 Indians, who had 114 wins, and the 1927 Yankees, who had 110. Plus, Anderson has had a great season and is in the running for the Cy Young Award, so there is no way he lets up here in his last start. Take the Dodgers here.

Prediction: LA Dodgers -1.5

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

While I fully expect Anderson to shut down the Rockies, I still think this game goes to the over. This 6 game homestand to end the season will be a celebration for fans and the team and they are just going to be having fun and playing loose. And their opponents have the worst pitching staff in the major league, so I think the party will run long and it will be filled with lots of runs. The Rockies may scratch out a few runs if they pull Anderson early and rest the key bullpen hurlers. So this one winds up above the total. Take the over here.

Prediction: Over
