After winning two of their first three games on the road in Toronto, the Angels and Blue Jays had their series finale postponed on Sunday. Los Angeles comes in with a strong 6-3 overall record, good for first place in the American League West standings. Meanwhile, Kansas City is hoping to battle its way into contention in the American League Central. The Royals have won four of their first seven games to enter the week in second place in the division race.
Can the Halos keep their momentum going on the road in Kansas City on Monday night?
Cobb flashing newfound velocity with AngelsLos Angeles is scheduled to turn to right-hander Alex Cobb for his second start in an Angels’ uniform on Monday night. The 33-year-old turned in a quality outing in his first trip to the mound, tossing six innings of three-run ball with seven strikeouts and only one walk in a no-decision versus the Chicago White Sox.

After injuries derailed a once-promising career, Cobb has battled his way back to becoming a competent starter and appears to have regained confidence in his stuff. The veteran has flashed increased velocity since coming over to Los Angeles and is missing more bats as a result.
Cobb will hope that all that translates into a better performance against the Royals, who have had his number over the years. The Angels’ right-hander comes in with a career 1-3 record and a 4.54 ERA against Kansas City in six starts. According to Baseball Savant, current Royals are batting just .243 in 76 plate appearances off of Cobb heading into Monday’s matchup.
Santana's home helps Royals salvage series vs. ChicagoThe Royals got back on the winning track with a 4-3 extra winnings victory versus the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. After giving up a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, Carlos Santana tied the game with a solo shot in the ninth to send the game to extra innings, where Kansas City elected to play small-ball to escape with the win.
Hey, um, friends. There is a lot to be excited about in Brad Keller. His slider is rated by @statcast as having 17% more drop than the league average and a ridiculous 2510 RPM spin rate. The Royals are scheduled to hand the ball to right-hander Brady Singer on Monday night. The 24-year-old had a strong start to his 2021 debut but was eventually roughed up for six runs (five earned) in just 3 ⅓ innings of work versus the Texas Rangers. He comes in with an 0-1 overall record to go along with a 13.50 ERA but recorded five strikeouts, which is an encouraging sign for the Royals.
This will be Singer’s first career start against the Angels.

Full-Game Side Bet
It's hard not to like the Royals in this game. Los Angeles is fresh off of a tough series on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays. The extra day off also gives the Angels some time to cool off from Saturday's 15-1 blowout loss, which is good news for the Royals here. Singer's ugly 2021 debut makes him a candidate to bounce back in this spot after he posted a strong 4.06 ERA as a rookie. Take the Royals to come out on top at home in this matchup on Monday evening.
Full-Game Total Pick
These two teams are projected for nine runs but that number seems a bit high in this spot. Cobb is starting to look like the pitcher that he was in Tampa Bay and appears to have the confidence to put away hitters at a high rate. Meanwhile, Singer is better than he showed in his last start and also appears to be making strides with his stuff. Look for a bounce-back effort from the youngster here and take this game to stay under the projected total on Monday night.
