The Tampa Bay Rays and the Baltimore Orioles will open a three-game divisional series starting Tuesday night from Tropicana Field. The Orioles will have 26-year old right-hander Dylan Bundy on the mound, and the Rays will counter with 25-year old right-hander Tyler Glasnow. The Rays posted an 11-8 record against the Orioles last season.

Bundy Squanders Season High Six Runs

Dylan Bundy will get the nod for the fourth time of the season, aiming for his first win. Bundy was crushed by the Athletics in his previous start, surrendering six runs including four home runs in five innings, leading to the defeat. The young right-hander has yet to pitch more than five innings through three starts, and he has allowed a total of 12 runs in his 12.1 innings of work on the season. Bundy struggled against the Rays last season, serving up 17 runs (16 earned) in 22.2 innings, and he stands at 3-4 with an ugly 6.30 ERA in 50 career innings against Tampa Bay. Avisail Garcia is 4 for 7 against Bundy, while Willy Adames is 1 for 4

Jonathan Villar has been one of the Orioles most consistent hitters this season, sporting a .300 average with three home runs and nine RBI’s. The 27-year old second baseman hit a solid .316 with three RBI’s in 19 at-bats against the Rays last season. Villar is batting in the leadoff position in the Orioles batting order.

The Orioles are currently averaging 4.44 runs per game, ranking them 19th in the big leagues. The Baltimore pitching staff stands near the bottom of the Majors in many categories which includes a Major League-worst 6.30 team ERA. Baltimore has been competitive on the road where they own a 6-4 record on the season.

Glasnow Targets Fourth Consecutive Victory

The red-hot Rays will have Tyler Glasnow on the mound for the fourth time of the season in this one. Glasnow is locked in early this season. He tossed six shutout innings of two-hit ball against the White Sox in his previous effort, leading to the victory to lift his record to 3-0. The fourth-year right-hander has limited his opposition to only one run on 11 hits in 17 innings through three starts, and he has only issued three walks. Glasnow has held the Orioles to one run in four career innings.

Watch for Kevin Kiermaier in this one. The 28-year old center fielder owns solid stats against O’s starter Dylan Bundy, going 4 for 9 with two homers and six RBI’s. Kiermaier was productive against the Orioles last season, recording a .306 average with four RBI’s, and he is hitting .294 with two homers and nine RBI’s on the season. The Rays hold a 5-2 record on their home field.

The first-place Rays are averaging a solid 4.67 runs per game, ranking them 16th in the Majors. The Tampa Bay pitching staff continues to shine, sporting a Major League-best 2.33 team ERA.

Best Bets for this Game

Insiders Status:

Rating:

The Rays are the hottest team in the Majors, and Rays’ starter Tyler Glasnow has been one of the best starters in baseball in the early stages of this season. Glasnow has limited his opponents to one run in 17 innings pitched this season. Tampa Bay has won six out of their last seven games overall, and they have been sharp at the plate and on the mound in their winning ways.

Furthermore, the Orioles are fading after a hot start, dropping nine out of their last 12 games overall. Also, all nine losses occurred by at least two runs, and I expect the Rays to come away with a multi-run victory in this one.

Prediction: Tampa Bay Rays -1.5

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

Rating:

I am opting with the over in this one. The Rays are piling on the runs, scoring at least eight runs in four out of their last five games, and the over is 4-1 in their last five games overall, and 5-0 in their last five home games against the Orioles.

In addition, the Orioles have displayed some offensive punch,  plating a combined 19 runs in their four-game series in Boston which concluded on Monday, plus the over is 8-2 in their last 10 games overall. I expect a majority of the offense to come from the Rays.

Prediction: Over

Full-Game Prop Bet

Insiders Status:

Rating:

The Rays should have another productive night at the plate. Tampa Bay’s offense has feasted on weak pitching staffs. They scored a combined 24 runs in three games against the White Sox last week, and 20 runs in three games in Toronto this past weekend. The Orioles are another weak pitching staff the Rays should capitalize on. Baltimore’s bullpen owns a 7.53 ERA on the season.

Prediction: Rays Team Total Over

First Five Innings Side Pick

Insiders Status:

Rating:

I am staying with the Rays on the five-inning line. The Rays should have no problem plating runs against Dylan Bundy. They scored 17 runs in 22.2 innings against the right-hander last season. In addition, Tyler Glasnow has tossed 12 consecutive shutout innings for the Rays.

Prediction: Tampa Bay
