The Chicago White Sox clash with the Boston Red Sox in the annual Patriots' Day morning game which is also a tribute to the Boston Marathon. Two aces collide in this thrilling matchup. The White Sox will give the nod to Lucas Giolito and the Red Sox will reply with Nathan Eovaldi. The White Sox lead the series 2-1.
White Sox Ace Giolito Starts Finale
White Sox’ ace Lucas Giolito will get the nod for the fourth time of the season in this one. Giolito was incredible last time out, tossing seven shutout innings against the Indians, leading to the no-decision in a game the White Sox lost 2-0. The veteran right-hander has allowed three or fewer runs in all three of his outings and features a 2.55 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP to go with a 1-0 record. Giolito has accumulated a remarkable 26 K’s. He fared well in his three outings against Boston, conceding only seven runs in 17 innings.
The White Sox have lofty expectations this season and so far the team has been inconsistent, especially at the plate. They won two of four over the Indians prior to this series and won both games of Sunday's DH.

Several of the White Sox big hitters are starting to find their swing which includes Yoan Moncada. The 25-year old third baseman is showing signs of heating up after recording five RBI’s in his last four games overall. Moncada is only hitting .200 with seven RBI’s and a .591 OPS on the year.
The White Sox are scoring an average of 4.81 runs on the season, placing them sixth in the Majors. They have filed a 3.28 team ERA, landing them seventh overall.
Eovaldi Dazzles Again, Offense Cools Down
Nathan Eovaldi will make his fourth start of the year on Monday. Eovaldi is pitching well and has delivered with three solid outings. He allowed two runs in five innings against the Twins last time out in a 3-2 victory. The hard-throwing right-hander has conceded two or fewer runs in all three performances and features a stellar 2.08 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP in 17.1 innings pitched. The veteran has not seen a whole lot of the White Sox in his career, giving up six runs in 9.2 innings. Eovaldi has yet to allow a home run.

The Red Sox have one of the best records in the AL after a remarkable nine-game winning streak which included a sweep of the Rays. The offense ranks in the top five in most categories and the pitching has been stellar as well. The bats were quiet after scoring only three runs in Sunday's doubleheader.
Boston has scored Rafael Devers has played a big role in the Red Sox outstanding start, launching five home runs along with 14 RBI’s and a .865 OPS. The 24-year old third baseman was one of the few Red Sox who actually had a solid 2020 season. Devers is 2 for 9 in this series.
The Red Sox stand fourth in the Major Leagues with an average of 5.3 runs per game. The Boston pitching staff has been outstanding and enters with a 3.70 team ERA, good for 10th.
The Chicago White Sox are:
- 5-1 in their last 6 Monday games.
- 21-8 in their last 29 games as the road favorite.
The Boston Red Sox are:
- 1-7 in their last 8 Monday games.
- 3-9 in their last 12 games in the fourth game of a series.
Best Bets for this Game
Full-Game Side Bet
The White Sox send the dominant Giolito to the mound in this one. The ace has been outstanding, limiting his foes to only a combined five runs on nine hits over his three starts. The right-hander has fared well against the Red Sox as well, holding them to seven runs in 17 career innings.
Furthermore, Red Sox starter Eovaldi has experienced some issues in his limited action against the White Sox, allowing six runs in 9.2 innings. The White Sox are a better team than their record indicates and this game offers great value on Chicago with Giolito on the mound. The White Sox are gaining their swagger back after winning both games of Sunday's doubleheader by a combined 8-3 score.
Full-Game Total Pick
This should be a low-scoring battle between aces. Giolito will likely allow three or fewer runs and he should pitch rather deep into the game after filing seven innings last time out. The under is also 4-0 in Giolito’s last four starts against a team with a winning record.
In addition, while I expect some offense against Eovaldi, the right-hander has been just as effective as Giolito, holding his opponents to only a combined four runs over his three starts. The Red Sox pitching has been tremendous in their remarkable start. The under is 8-3 in the Red Sox last 11 home games against the White Sox.
Full-Game Prop Bet
I recommend a play on the Red Sox team total. The White Sox have only allowed a combined nine runs in the three games started by Giolito this season. The White Sox rank seventh in the Majors in WHIP and have conceded four or fewer runs in six out of their last seven clashes overall including only 10 runs through the first three games of this series.
First Five Innings Prop Prediction
I expect a scoreless first inning. Giolito has yet to give up a run in his three starts in the first inning and has not even allowed a single hit. The sample applies to Eovaldi with three scoreless first innings in the books. Boston has also only tallied five runs in the opening frame this season.
