D-Backs Have turned Their Slow Start Around
The Arizona Diamondbacks started out the season at 6-9, but they have turned things around of late as they will enter Wednesday night’s game having gone 7-2 over their last nine games. The D-Backs are now at 13-11 on the year and in a second-place tie with the Padres in the National League West, Both teams are 1.5 games out of first. Arizona will look to keep it going in this one, but it will not be east as Jameson Taillon has been tough to beat at home. On Tuesday night, the D-Backs took game two of this series by a score of 2-1. Luke Weaver had a solid outing as he allowed just one ER on six hits and a walk while striking out seven in 6.1 innings of work to move to 2-1 with a 3.33 ERA on the year. Greg Holland picked up his 5th save of the year while driving in their two runs were David Peralta and Adam Jones.

Toeing the rubber for the Diamondbacks will be Zack Greinke, who has gone 3-1 with a 4.60 ERA in five starts on the year, including 2-0 with a 2.29 ERA in his last three starts and 2-1 with a 5.74 ERA in three starts on the road. In his career, he has gone 81-74 with a 3.75 ERA in 226 games (205 starts) on the road and 32-14 with a 3.02 ERA in 66 starts during March April, plus 57-36 with a 3.52 ERA in 135 games (125 starts) in the daytime. Greinke is 8-4 with a 4.54 ERA in 13 career starts against the Pirates, including 2-2 with a 5.32 ERA in four starts here at PNC Park.
The Diamondbacks have been above average on offense so far as they come in ranked 11th in the league in scoring, putting up 5.21 rpg, while also ranking 4th in hitting at .268 and 9th in homers with 35. Pirates Look To get Back On Track
The Pittsburgh Pirates had been trolling along with a five-game winning streak, but they will enter their game on Wednesday night having lost their last three games in a row. That includes losing the first two games of this series by scores of 12-4 and 2-1. The offense has been a struggle for Pittsburgh of late as they have averaged just 3.11 rpg over their last nine games. Pittsburgh will be looking to turn things around tonight, but it will not be easy as they will enter Wednesday night’s game having lost their last eight home games to the Diamondbacks. In the 2-1 loss on Tuesday night, Trevor Williams had a solid outing as he allowed just two ERs on four hits and a walk in 7.0 innings of work, but it wasn’t enough as the offense didn’t get the memo that there was a game on this night. Williams is now 1-1 with a 2.59 ERA on the year. Francisco Cervelli drove in their lone run in the contest.

The Pirates will trot out Jameson Taillon and he has gone 1-2 with a 3.12 ERA in five starts on the year, including 1-1 with a 2.77 ERA in his last three starts and 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in two starts here at home. In his career, he has gone 12-11 with a 3.65 ERA in 42 starts here at PNC Park and 5-5 with a 3.38 ERA in 16 starts during March/ April, plus 11-7 with a 3.10 ERa in 27 day starts. Taillon has gone 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA in one career start against the Diamondbacks.
Pittsburgh has been poor on offense so far as they come in ranked 26th in the league in scoring, putting up 3.48 rpg, while also ranking 24th in hitting at .230 and 29th in homers with 16.
