The Cincinnati Reds (9-26,14-21 RL, 21-12-2 O/U) and the Cleveland Guardians (16-17, 17-16 RL, 19-14 O/U) open a mini two-game interleague series on Tuesday evening. The Reds will give the nod to Connor Overton. The Guardians give the start to Plesac who had trouble again in his previous effort. The Guardians lead the season series 2-0.

Overton Starts, Reds Pitching Improves

The Reds will have Connor Overton make his fourth start of the season in this one. Overton was brilliant in his previous start, tossing six shutout innings against the Pirates, and was rewarded with his first win of the season. The young right-hander has been effective in all three starts, conceding only three runs in 17 innings, equating to a minuscule 1.59 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP to go with a 1-0 record. This marks his first career meeting against the Guardians.

Cincinnati has been much better after that horrible opening month. They won two of three against the Brewers last week and earned two wins in four meetings in Pittsburgh last weekend. The pitching has been solid, holding the Pirates to three or fewer runs in all four games.

Colan Moran is one of many hitters in a groove at the plate. The 29-year-old first baseman has accrued a remarkable 12 RBIs in his last eight games. Moran now has 21 RBIs along with a .670 OPS on the season. He went 2 for 8 against the Guardians last season.

The Reds are scoring an average of 4.03 runs per game, ranking them 17th in the big leagues. The pitching staff has recorded a 6.05 team ERA, pegging them last.

Plesac Struggles Again, Guardians Fall to Twins

The Guardians will give Zach Plesac the nod for the seventh time of the year. Plesac’s issues continued in his latest effort, squandering five runs (four earned) in 6.1 innings against a good White Sox offense, and was able to escape with the no-decision in a game Cleveland won. The young right-hander has struggled in three consecutive starts and his ERA has plummeted to 4.68 accompanied by a 1.35 WHIP and a 1-3 record in 32.2 innings of action. Plesac has limited Cincinnati to just seven runs with a 2-0 record in 20.1 career frames.

The Guardians return home after going 2-3 on a five-game road trip that ended with a series loss to the Twins as the offense wasn't able to solve the pitching. Cleveland has been tough to beat at home where they stand at 4-1 in their last five games overall.

Jose Ramirez has cooled down after his incredible month of April. The 29-year-old slugger has driven in only five runs this month and has eight big flies with a remarkable 33 RBIs and a .967 OPS on the season. Ramirez is a stellar 6 for 9 with nine RBIs against the Reds this season.

The Guardians are averaging a stellar 4.76 runs on the season, landing them seventh in the Majors. The pitching staff has fielded a subpar 4.19 team ERA, placing them 25th overall.

Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

The Reds are playing better recently, however, seven out of their last ten games occurred against a subpar Pirates team. The Guardians have endured a difficult schedule and are winning games. They are 7-3 in their last ten home games which occurred against the White Sox, Padres, and Blue Jays.

Furthermore, Guardians’ starter Zach Plesac should rebound in this one. The right-hander has contained the Reds, limiting them to only seven runs in 20.1 career innings which equates to a 3.10 ERA. Cleveland leads the season series 2-0 and I expect another win in this one.

Prediction: Cleveland Guardians -160

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

This one should feature plenty of runs. The Reds’ bats have been productive, even in the losses. They have scored four or more runs in eight out of their last ten games and the over has been the common trend.

In addition, the Guardians’ offense continues to rank atop the Majors. They have plated an average of 5.2 runs in their last ten games and Jose Ramirez has been one of the best hitters in the AL. The over is also 5-1 in the Guardians' last six home games.

Prediction: Over 8
