Braves have been a bad bet on the road
Atlanta (28-37 SU, 28-37 RL, and 25-35-5 O/U) was swept by San Francisco in its previous series. The Braves were 2-8 in their last ten games (the under was 6-4).
Atlanta will start right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach on Wednesday against Milwaukee. In his last outing, the 25-year-old surrendered four runs (three earned) on six hits in six innings against the Giants. He is 4-4 with a 3.24 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 13 starts (80.2 IP) this year, including 1-2 with a 4.85 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in five road starts (29.2 IP).
The Braves have been solid at Truist Park (17-14), but they haven't been able to sustain their momentum when they leave town. Atlanta is 10-23 on the road in 2025, with their pitching being the main culprit. They sport a 3.30 ERA at home and a 4.29 ERA in away games, as opponents are slashing .242 BA/.318 OBP/.410 SLG/.728 OPS. A series win in Milwaukee would be significant, as the Braves need to stop their recent slide as soon as possible.
Atlanta Braves Baseball Injury Report: No recent injuries to report for tomorrow's game against the Brewers.
Milwaukee is in a tight division race
Milwaukee (35-32 SU, 34-33 RL, and 25-39-3 O/U) lost two of three games to San Diego in its previous series. The Brewers are 6-4 in their last ten games (the under was 7-3).
Milwaukee is turning to righty Chad Patrick tomorrow against Atlanta. In his last outing, the rookie held the Padres to one run on four hits and three walks in six innings. He is 3-5 with a 2.84 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 14 appearances (69.2 IP), including 2-3 with a 2.25 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in eight home starts (44.0 IP).
The Brewers have been postseason contenders for the past few seasons but have struggled when the lights were bright, posting a 2-10 record in the playoffs since 2019. Milwaukee had a quiet offseason, but the loss of SS Willy Adames stings. Keeping pace with St. Louis won't be easy, and catching Chicago might take an extra bat. Can they sustain their status as a postseason contender in 2025?
Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Injury Report: No injuries for Wednesday's game versus the Braves.

Betting Trends: The under is 7-4 when the Brewers are home underdogs and 32-16-5 when the Braves play with no rest. The under is also 29-18-3 in Atlanta's games against the NL and 19-13-2 in Milwaukee's National League games.
Schwellenbach and Patrick should go toe-to-toe for four or so innings, keeping these offenses mostly at bay. The Braves' righty has a 3.69 xERA, while the Brewers' rookie sports a 3.64 xERA. I expect Atlanta's hurler to pitch deep into his start, recording plenty of easy outs with weak ground ball contact. Patrick may not last as deep into Wednesday's game as Schwellenbach, but he's backed up by a Milwaukee bullpen that's been trending in the right direction recently (12th in ERA in the last two weeks).
Bet on the under in tomorrow's series finale.
