Detroit Concludes Battles with Chicago

The Detroit Tigers just played back-to-back series against the teams from Chicago, as they were on the road against the White Sox, then hosted the Cubs. They split the four-game set with the White Sox, then took two of three at home against the Cubs. The Tigers still have a strong hold on the AL Central, as they have a seven-game lead over the second-place Twins. In their last game against the Cubs, Spencer Torkelson had a two-run double in the first inning to get the scoring started in the 4-0 win.

Torkelson has been their top power hitter this season, as he leads the team with 15 home runs and 45 RBIs. He is the former number-one overall pick in the 2020 draft by the Tigers, and the 25-year-old has been a productive member of the lineup for the past four seasons. He has been playing first base and batting fifth in the lineup recently. Riley Greene had a two-run single in the fifth inning to help put away the Cubs, he is right behind Torkelson in productivity as he has 13 home runs and 44 RBIs on the season from the cleanup spot. Kerry Carpenter has been taking right field and batting third, he has 13 home runs and 27 RBIs on the season.

Casey Mize will make his 11th start of the season for the Tigers, he is a 28-year-old right-hander with a 6-1 record, with the team going 3-2 over his last five starts. His ERA is 2.91 to go with 48 strikeouts to 16 walks. In his last start, Mize gave up two earned runs over 4.2 innings in a loss to the White Sox.

Orioles Return Home

The Baltimore Orioles will return to Camden Yards after a West Coast trip where they took on the Mariners and the Athletics. They swept the Mariners in Seattle, but then lost two of three against the Athletics team who is playing their home games in Sacramento. Baltimore is last in the AL East, 13 games behind the Yankees at the top of the division, and four games behind the Red Sox who sit in fourth. In their last game against the Athletics, Adley Rutschman had two hits in the 5-1 loss.

Rutschman is their catcher who was batting second in the lineup, he is a 27-year-old who has been starting behind the plate for the past four seasons. He has seven home runs and 18 RBIs on the season, while batting .227 at the plate. The Orioles are excited to have Cedric Mullins return to the lineup, he was just reinstated after an injury, but is still their top power hitter with 10 home runs and 31 RBIs on the season. Mullins has not played since late May, but will be available for this game. Gunnar Henderson is their shortstop who bats third, he has eight home runs and 17 RBIs on the season.

Zach Eflin will make his 9th start as a 31-year-old right-hander. He has a 5-2 record, with the team winning in each of his last two starts. His ERA is 4.47 to go with a strong 31-6 strikeout-to-walk ratio. In his last appearance, Eflin he pitched six innings while allowing three earned runs in a win over the Mariners.

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

Rating:

Both teams are sending out starters who were part of their day one rotation, and each club has a serious trend of hitting the under to take into consideration. The Tigers are sending out Casey Mize, and his ERA is under 3.00 over a strong sample size. The Tigers have gone under in five straight games coming into this one, and their offense has been strong, but not explosive, as they have not scored over five runs in any of those games. Zach Eflin has a 5-2 record for Baltimore, and he has only walked six batters over 46 innings this season. Baltimore has gone under the total in nine of their last ten games, there is no reason to fade the trend here.

Take the under.

Prediction: Under
