The Chicago White Sox battle the Detroit Tigers in the second of a three-game divisional series Saturday afternoon from Comerica Park. Dylan Cease just beat the Tigers last week and will get the nod. The Tigers will counter with veteran Jose Urena. The White Sox lead the season series by a 6-2 count including a 5-4 win in extra innings on Friday night.
Cease Dominates Tigers, White Sox Build First Place Lead
Dylan Cease is on the hill for the 13th time of the year on Saturday. Cease just battled the Tigers last weekend and was brilliant, tossing seven shutout innings and fanned 10 batters in a 3-0 win. The third-year right-hander is usually reliable and features a 3.36 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP accompanied by a 4-2 record in 61.2 innings of work. He has now logged 14 shutout innings against Detroit this season and stands at 7-0 with a stifling 1.91 ERA in seven starts against the foes.
Chicago is proving to be the best team in the AL and has come away with yet another series win, this time against the Blue Jays. They continue to shine at the plate and have won five out of their last seven battles. They own a 4.5 game lead ahead of second-place Cleveland.

Watch for Tim Anderson who had a productive series against Detroit last week, going 6 for 16 with five RBI’s. The talented shortstop has driven in six runs on the month. Anderson hasn’t been quite as productive as past seasons, hitting .297 with 23 RBI’s along with a .769 OPS on the season.
The White Sox are averaging 4.90 runs on the year, good for fifth in the Major Leagues. The Chicago pitching staff brings a 3.24 team ERA into this one, landing them fourth overall.
Urena Starts, Tigers Offense Shines
The Tigers will have Jose Urena make his 12th start of the season in this one. Urena was decent in his latest effort, holding this White Sox team to three runs in five innings, and was tagged with the loss to sink his record to 2-5. The veteran right-hander has fared reasonably well for a #4/5 starter, posting a 4.25 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP in 59.1 innings of action. Urena battled Chicago in late April allowed just two runs in seven innings in a 3-1 win.
The Tigers are scoring plenty of runs as of late. They won two of three against Seattle this week and tallied a total of 19 runs. Detroit is now only one game below .500 at Comerica Park. Detroit is 5-5 in their last 10 games overall. Jeimer Candelario is expected to be back in the lineup.

The Tigers are averaging 3.81 runs per game, placing them 28th in the big leagues. The Detroit pitching staff owns a 4.32 team ERA, landing them 19th overall.
The Chicago White Sox are:
- 25-7 in their last 32 games against the Tigers.

Best Bets for this Game
Full-Game Side Bet
White Sox starter Dylan Cease has completely dominated the Tigers in his career. He has battled the Tigers seven times and came away with the win in all seven performances. He features a minuscule 1.91 ERA in those seven outings. Chicago has fared well against Detroit, winning six of the eight meetings this season. The Tigers have yet to score a run against Cease in two starts this season.
Furthermore, Tigers’ starter Jose Urena is decent but Chicago’s line-up is too powerful. Chicago scored three runs against Urena last week and they will not need many runs to win this game considering the dominance of Cease.
Full-Game Total Pick
The under has been the common trend between these foes this season. The White Sox have scored four or fewer runs in five of their eight games against the Tigers this season and overall they have not been quite as dangerous at the plate. The under is 4-0 in Urena’s last four starts against a team with a winning record.
In addition, the Tigers have done nothing against Cease and have averaged less than three runs per game against Chicago this season. The under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings between these division foes.
Full-Game Prop Bet
The Tigers will be kept in check at the plate. The White Sox have allowed four or fewer runs in five out of their last six clashes overall. Detroit has only managed four runs or fewer in six out of their last seven games against the White Sox. Cease should last at least six innings and the bullpen is above average with a 3.70 ERA.
First Five Innings Prop Prediction
The chances are very good the White Sox will score first. Chicago is most productive early in games. They have 43 runs in the first inning followed by a whopping 51 in the second. Detroit only has 22 runs in the opening frame. Also, Urena owns a 5.79 ERA in innings 1-3.
