Guardians hope Bibee and lineup step up

The Guardians are having a great season and look to head into the All-Star break with the best record in the American League. Tanner Bibee will start the upcoming game and he looks to build on what has been a great season as he's allowing only 42 runs in 98 innings pitched while tossing 115 strikeouts. Moreover, with a .230 expected opponent Batting Average, a 28.4 Strikeout Percentage, and a 3.32 expected ERA, opponents are making minimal contact and struggling to drive in runs against Bibee this season.

Bibee has stepped up but the lineup has carried the Guardians, scoring 4.90 runs per game. Steven Kwan is slashing .358/.413/.529 with 136 total bases while David Fry is slashing .300/.406/.500 with 95 total bases but the entire lineup has stepped up. Jose Ramirez is slashing .269/.320/.526 with 23 home runs and 182 total bases while Josh Naylor and Tyler Freeman have added 28 home runs and 243 total bases to round out the lineup, making the Guardians tough to put away at the plate.

Detroit hopes Olson helps out awful lineup

The Tigers are having a rough season but hope their hot streak allows them to get back into the playoff picture. Reese Olson has been one of the bright spots as he's allowing only 41 runs in 95 innings pitched while tossing 89 strikeouts. Additionally, with a .361 expected opponent Slugging Percentage, a 5.5 Barrel Percentage, and a 3.47 expected ERA, opponents are making weak contact off the bat against Olson and struggling to drive in runs as a result.

Olson has stepped up but the lineup has let the Tigers down, scoring only 4.09 runs per game. Riley Greene is slashing .258/.353/.494 with 17 home runs and 163 total bases while Wenceel Perez is slashing .262/.315/.405 with 102 total bases but the rest of the lineup has struggled. Only two batters have an OPS+ over 100 and opposing pitchers can eliminate the hapless lineup as a result.

Insiders Status:

Rating:

The Tigers look to step up at home but the Guardians are having a great season and look to take over this game from the first inning. The Guardians, who average 4.90 runs per game, should drive in runs at will with Steven Kwan, David Fry, and the rest of the lineup making contact and putting together strong plate appearances. The Guardians should limit the Tigers lineup with Tanner Bibee pitching multiple strong innings to allow the bullpen to close out the game with the lead. The Guardians should win the game with a strong performance on the road.

Take the Guardians money line as road Favorites.

Prediction: Guardians (-140)

Both starting pitchers have been excellent this season and this game looks to be a low-scoring one from the first pitch. The Tigers should limit the Guardians lineup with Reese Olson, who allowed only five runs in his last three starts, pitching multiple strong innings with weak contact off the bat. The Guardians should eliminate the Tigers lineup, which averages only 4.09 runs per game, with Tanner Bibee building off of three starts where he's only allowed seven runs and tossing multiple scoreless innings with minimal contact and a surplus of strikeouts. The Under should cover in a low-scoring game controlled by both starting pitchers.

Take the Under on 8.5 runs.

Prediction: Under 7.5
