On Wednesday, the Kansas City Royals (49-43, 3rd AL Central) play the second and final game of an interleague series on the road at Busch Stadium versus the St Louis Cardinals (48-42, 2nd NL Central). Kansas City defeated the Colorado Rockies 10-1 on Monday to avoid a sweep after losing the first two games of the three-game series with the Rockies. Kansas City has lost three of the last four and is 8 ½ games behind the first-place Cleveland Guardians in the American League Central. St Louis defeated the Washington Nationals 6-0 on Monday for their second straight win and fourth win in the last five. St Louis is second in the National League Central, 4 ½ games behind the front-running Milwaukee Brewers. Kansas City will play without three pitchers.
