Orioles squeaked out a win in game one

Baltimore (38-49 SU, 37-50 RL, and 38-45-4 O/U) lost two of three games versus Texas in its previous series. The Orioles are 5-5 in their last ten games (the over/under was split 5-5).

Baltimore will start left-hander Trevor Rogers on Sunday versus the Braves. In his last outing, the 27-year-old surrendered two runs on three hits and three walks in 5.1 innings against the Rangers. He is 1-0 with a 2.05 ERA and 0.86 WHIP in four starts, with a 3.21 ERA and 1.14 WHIP on the road (three starts).

Baltimore hopes to advance much further this postseason after squandering a terrific regular season with a quick exit in the playoffs. The Orioles' pitching staff looks to have taken a step back with Corbin Burnes gone and Grayson Rodriguez starting the season on the IL. 18th-year MLB pro Charlie Morton got the start on Friday night, and the club is also leaning on 35-year-old Tomoyuki Sugano to eat up innings. The O's lineup is very talented, though, and is expected to be the catalyst for the team's success over the next several seasons.

Baltimore Orioles Baseball Injury Report: No new injuries to report for tomorrow's game against Atlanta.

Atlanta will need better pitching from a new cast of rotation pieces

Atlanta (39-48 SU, 37-50 RL, and 33-48-6 O/U) lost two of three against LA (AL) in its previous series. The Braves are 3-7 in their last ten games (the under was 6-4).

Atlanta will start right-hander Grant Holmes tomorrow against Baltimore. In his last outing, the 29-year-old held the Angels scoreless with ten strikeouts in a six-inning no-decision. He is 4-7 with a 3.47 ERA and 1.24 WHIP this season (96.0 IP), including 2-4 with a 2.75 ERA and 1.17 WHIP at Truist Park (ten starts).

The Braves have been solid at Truist Park (24-20), but they haven't been able to sustain their momentum when they leave town. Atlanta is 15-28 on the road in 2025, with their pitching being the main culprit. They sport a 3.38 ERA at home and a 4.15 ERA in away games, as opponents are slashing .240 BA/.314 OBP/.402 SLG/.715 OPS. With several starting arms on the injured list, it's going to take a much better effort after the All-Star break for the Braves to get back in the playoff picture.

Atlanta Braves Baseball Injury Report: No new injuries to report for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Betting Trends: The under is 30-15-1 (66.7%) in Baltimore's road games and 27-14-3 (65.9%) in Atlanta's home games this MLB season.

Rogers and Holmes have been effective starting pitchers, and these offenses leave a lot to be desired. Atlanta ranks 21st in runs per game at home, while Baltimore is 28th in runs per game on the road. Holmes ranks in the 85th percentile in strikeout percentage, and the Orioles rank 27th in K% against right-handers. Rogers has done a fine job at avoiding barrels (4.9% Barrel%) and limiting free passes (7.0% BB%), which will help limit baserunners and scoring opportunities. Furthermore, these bullpens have been excellent recently, ranking ninth (Baltimore) and tenth (Atlanta) in ERA over the last 30 days.
