Ober leads Minnesota on Tuesday

The Minnesota Twins continue their bid to climb back to the top of the AL Central Division as they battle the lowly White Sox to start the week. The Twins took two of three games from the previously red-hot Astros over the weekend in Minnesota. In the opener against the White Sox on Monday night, the Twins found themselves in a dogfight with the struggling White Sox. Trailing 5-2 entering the seventh, the Twins scored four runs to take the lead including home runs from Matt Wallner and Carlos Correa. The White Sox tied it at 6 apiece with a run in the bottom of the 8th. Brooks Lee singled home the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th inning, finishing the night 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in the extra-inning victory, 8-6.

The Twins will send righty Bailey Ober to the hill on Tuesday night in the middle game of this series. Ober is 8-4 in 17 starts this season including eight quality starts. He has an ERA of 4.12 and a WHIP of 1.10 while allowing 80 hits in 94 innings pitched. Ober has walked 23 batters while striking out 100 and giving up 15 home runs this season. In his last start, a 12-3 win over the Tigers, Ober went six innings as and allowed three runs although only one was earned, and struck out eight batters.

Key Injuries: LF Austin Martin, RP Brock Stewart, and RP Zack Weiss are out.

The White Sox Give it to Fedde

The White Sox battled the Marlins in Miami over the weekend in a battle of two of the worst teams in baseball. The results did not end in the White Sox favor as the Sox dropped two of three games in the series including the series finale on Sunday, 7-4. The White Sox and Marlins were tied before a three-run home run by Jake Burger in the 9th made losers of the struggling White Sox. In game one against the Twins, the White Sox bullpen couldn't hold a three-run lead and gave up five runs in the game's final five innings in an extra-inning loss to the Twins to open up the series.

The White Sox will give the ball to one of their most consistent starters on Tuesday night, righty Erick Fedde. Fedde is 6-3 on the season in 18 starts including nine quality starts. Fedde has an ERA of 3.13 and a WHIP of 1.13 while allowing just 92 hits in 106.1 innings pitched. Fedde has also struck out 94 batters while walking just 28 and giving up 11 home runs. In his last start, Fedde allowed just three hits and one run in six innings in an eventual 8-2 win at Cleveland.

Key Injuries: SP Mike Clevinger, RP Lane Ramsey, and RP Matt Foster are out.

Best Bets for Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

This is a sneaky good pitching matchup on Tuesday as the Twins send Ober to the hill against the resurgent Fedde. Fedde has rebounded nicely after missing an entire season following shoulder surgery. He and Ober have combined for 17 quality starts this season so expect both pitchers to get this game into the later innings. That is where the advantage should shift significantly to the Twins bullpen over the White Sox bullpen. The Twins also have a superior lineup overall, batting .254 as a team compared with the White Sox hitting just .222 as a team. The Twins have won each of the seven games against the White Sox this season heading into the series opener on Monday night.

Take the Twins with the money line.

Prediction: MInnesota ML

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

While both starters have been solid this season, the game will turn to the bullpens later in the game and the Twins should be able to tack on runs at that point. Five of the first seven games between these two teams this season have gone over the total. The Twins have also gone over the total in three of the last five games started by Ober. The White Sox have gone over the total in three of the last five games started by Fedde. Expect a low-scoring start but a high-scoring finish.

Take the over.

Prediction: Over 8.5
