Familiar foes will clash on Friday when the Colorado Rockies (50-64) host the Arizona Diamondbacks (51-60). Colorado is 7-6 against Arizona this season. The Diamondbacks took two out of three games from the Rockies last weekend in Arizona.

Diamondbacks hope to carry recent success over to the road

The Arizona Diamondbacks have won five of their last seven games which were all at home. The Diamondbacks now hit the road where they are 19-31  this season, averaging 4.1 runs and allowing 5.0 runs in those road contests. They are also just 1-5 on the road since the All-Star break.

On Thursday, Arizona beat Pittsburgh 9-3, taking their third game in the four-game series, Emmanuel Rivera hit his eighth home run of the season with three RBI, and Daulton Varsho also drove in three runs in the win.

Zach Davies (2-4, 4.03 ERA) will start on Friday. He is 1-3 with a 4.95 ERA in eight road starts this season. In two starts against Colorado this season, Davies has not allowed a run in 11 1/3 innings, but both outings were at home. The last outing was on Sunday, when Davies tossed five shutout innings and allowed four hits in a 6-4 win over the Rockies.

Rockies take series from Cardinals

The Rockies are coming off a 8-6 win over the Cardinals on Thursday, giving them a win in the three-game series. Colorado will now try to win two games in a row for the first time since the All-Star break.

Antonio Senzatela (3-6, 4.68 ERA) will make the start for the Rockies in this series opener. Senzatela is 3-2 at home with a 4.02  ERA in 10 starts. He is also 0-1 with a 5.00 ERA against Arizona this season.

At home the Rockies are 32-28 this season, averaging 5.8 runs per game in those contests and allowing 5.5 runs per game. The Rockies are batting .278 against right-hand pitchers and averaging 5.5 runs per nine innings against them.

Insiders Status:

Rating:

These teams have gone back and forth this season, but 10 of the 13 match-ups have been played in Arizona. I have to give the Rockies the edge here due to home-field advantage, as both of these teams are much better in their own ballparks and have struggled on the road. Colorado has also won nine of their last 11 head-to-head games against Arizona when at Coors Field.

Prediction: Colorado Rockies -118

Full-Game Total Pick

Rating:

There have not been more than 11 runs scored in any of Antonio Senzatela's last nine starts, which includes four home starts. On the other side, there have been less than 12 runs scored in the eight starts made by Zach Davies. Even with this game being played at Coors Field, I'll take a shot with less than 13 runs being scored in this game, with two veteran pitchers on the mound.

Prediction: Under 12.5
