Two NL East foes meet Saturday as the Philadelphia Phillies host the Atlanta Braves in the third game of a four-game series. The Braves are chasing the Mets for first place in the division while the Phillies are looking to lock up a wildcard spot in the National League.
Wright goes for 20th winThe Atlanta Braves have been chasing the NY Mets pretty much all season and they are within striking distance. Because of the way the playoffs are structured this year, first place matters because it means the Braves would be a top-two seed in the NL and would get a first-round bye. If they don't catch the Mets, they would occupy the first wildcard spot.

Kyle Wright gets the start for the Braves on Saturday. The right-hander has a chance to win his 20th game of the season, as he is 19-5 on the year with a 3.18 ERA in 28 starts. He has 165 strikeouts and 50 walks in 170 innings. He leads all of baseball in wins and appears to be a lock for the NL Cy Young. The Braves have a team ERA of 3.43, which is 5th in the league. The bullpen has an ERA of 3.11, which is 5th in the majors.
Phillies in a dogfight for playoffsThe Phillies currently occupy the third wildcard spot, but they can not afford to rest on their laurels. They were only 2.5 games ahead of the fourth-place Brewers, so it is not a done deal yet and they can't afford to have a bad showing this weekend against the Braves. They had squandered their lead by losing five in a row, before winning their last two games, including the opener in this series.

Bailey Falter gets the start for the Phillies on Saturday. The left-hander is 5-3 on the season with a 3.68 ERA in 17 appearances and 13 starts. He has 62 strikeouts and 15 walks in 73.1 innings. Falter has given up 1 run on 4 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in 4.2 innings versus the Braves this season. The Phillies have a team ERA of 3.95, which is 17th in the league. The bullpen has an ERA of 4.26, which ranks 23rd in baseball.
Best Bets for this Game
Full-Game Side Bet
While both of these teams are destined for the playoffs, don't tell them that. The Braves want to catch the Mets to get a first-round bye and they'll have a chance with a series coming up with them next weekend. The Phillies, meanwhile, just want to stay in the wildcard and not fall out of the third and final spot. Given the fact that the Brave ace is taking the mound on Saturday, I have to go with Atlanta. Winning 20 games is a lot harder feat these days than it used to be, with pitch counts and bullpen days, so Wright will try to nail it down here and then rest. Take the Braves here.
Full-Game Total Pick
Wright has been fantastic all season. In his last start, he gave up only 2 runs on 8 hits in 6 innings in a win over the Nationals. This season against the Braves, Wright is 1-1 with an ERA of 2.63 and 9 strikeouts in 2 appearances. Falter has also been solid this season, with an ERA just over 3 on the season. The under is 6-0 in the Braves' last 6 games versus a National League East opponent and 4-0 in their last 4 road games. Also, the under is 3-1-1 in the Phillies' last 5 Saturday games and 5-2 in their last 7 games versus a right-handed starter. Take the under in this one.
