The red hot Cleveland Guardians look to take care of business Saturday when they head to Texas to take on the Rangers. This is the second game of a three game series. The Guardians come into this series with a 2-1 lead in the season series. The Guardians are running away with the AL Central while the Rangers are playing out the string, well out of playoff contention.

Guardians run away with division

The Guardians just took control of the AL Central with an incredible closing stretch. They come into this series having win 13 of their last 15 games and four in a row. Even better, they have dispatched of their two closes foes in the division. They took 4 out of 5 from the then second place Twins and then followed that up with a sweep of the now second place White Sox. As a result, the race for the division title is basically over.

The Guardians will start Cal Quantrill on Saturday. Quantrill has been the Guardians most consistent pitcher, with a record of 13-5 on the season and an ERA of 3.56 in 29 starts. Quantrill got a no decision in his last start, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits in 5.1 innings in a win over Minnesota. Quantrill is 1-0 against Texas this season, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts in 7 innings. The Guardians have a team ERA of 3.54, which is 8th in the league. The bullpen has an ERA of 3.10, which is 4th in the league.

Rangers take series with Angels

The Texas Rangers are playing out the string, well out of playoff contention, but they are coming off a series win against the Angels. They took 2 out of 3 from their division rivals and leapfrogged them in the standings, jumping into third place. They won the finale on Thursday 5-3 as Corey Seager hit his 32nd home run.

Glenn Otto gets the start for the Rangers on Saturday. The right hander is 6-9 with a 4.88 ERA in 24 starts. He has 92 strikeouts and 52 walks in 118 innings pitched. Otto gave up 4 runs on 7 hits in 3.1 innings in a loss to the Rays in his last start. The Rangers have a team ERA of 4.21, which is 22nd in the league. Their bullpen has an ERA of 3.67, which is 11th in the league.

The Guardians have stormed into the lead in the division and have pretty much ended things. But they show no signs of slowing down, as they beat the Rangers in the series opener and now have an 8 game lead. They will look to carry this momentum right into the playoffs in the hopes of making a deep run. I just don't see them losing this game with Quantrill, who has been their best pitcher, on the hill. The Guardians are 19-10 in his starts and they have a bullpen behind him that has been lights out. The Rangers need a good start to beat a team as good as Cleveland and Otto is not the guy. Take Cleveland here with the money line.

Prediction: Cleveland -123

Rating:

As good as Quantrill has been this season, the games he pitches have had a tendency to go over -- as he gets a lot of run support. The overs are 19-9 this season when he takes the mound and 3-0 in his last three starts. Also, the over is 4-0 in Quantrill's last 4 starts with the total set between 7.0-8.5. The Guardians have averaged almost 8 runs per game in this winning streak they have been on lately, so they are mashing right now. As for Texas, the over is 4-1 in their last 5 home games and 19-7 in their last 26 during game 2 of a series. Take the over.

Prediction: Over 8
