The Cleveland Guardians finish up their three-game series with the Rangers Sunday in Texas.  The Guardians lead the AL Central while the Rangers are 4th in the AL West. Aaron Civale (2-6) starts for Cleveland while Cole Ragans (0-2) takes the mound for the Rangers. First pitch is at 2:25 p.m. ET from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Civale starts for Guardians

The Guardians have expanded their lead in the AL Central to 8 games after sweeping the White Sox and winning the first game of this series on Friday. While they haven't officially clinched, this thing is over the Guardians are headed to the playoffs. They are led by Jose Ramirez, who is batting .277 with 28 home runs and 117 RBI, and Josh Naylor, who is batting .261 with 19 homers and 73 RBI.

Aaron Civale gets the start for the Guardians on Sunday. Civale, a right-hander, is 2-6 on the season with an ERA of 5.29 in 17 starts. He has 77 strikeouts and 21 walks in 80 innings pitched. In his last outing, Civale got a no-decision, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits in 5-plus innings against the White Sox. The Guardians have a team ERA of 3.53, which is 8th in the league. The bullpen has an ERA of 3.10, which is 4th in the league.

Seager leads Rangers

The Texas Rangers are going to make the playoffs, but they can scare people with their offense. They rank 11th in the league with 4.45 runs per game and they are 16th in team batting average, 8th in home runs, and 12th in slugging percentage. The Rangers are led by Corey Seager, who is batting .247 with 32 home runs and 82 RBI while Nathaniel Lowe is hitting .306 with 25 homers and 72 RBI.

Insiders Status:

No one should confuse this matchup with a pitcher's duel, as both Civale and Ragans have struggled mightily this season. But I'm going to give the edge to the home team here as Ragans will pick up his first win of the season. The Guardians have done yeoman's work to get to this point, having a tremendous past few weeks. You might forgive them if they are a little homesick and look forward to getting back home to Cleveland where they can clinch their division, and the playoffs, in front of their home fans. Take the Rangers here with the money line.

Prediction: Texas

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

The Rangers are not a good baseball team, but there are some things they do pretty well -- and that is hit. They have two legit sluggers in their lineup in Seager and Lowe and they are facing a pitcher in Civale who is not good away from home or in day games. He is 0-3 on the road with an ERA over 6 and he is 0-4 in day games with an ERA over 6. Meanwhile, no one would mistake Ragans for a good pitcher at this point in his young career as he has an ERA of 6.94 in his last three starts. The over is 38-32 for the Rangers at home this season and 4-1 in their last 5 games. Take the over in this one.

Prediction: Over
