Fresh off a four-game sweep of the Texas Rangers, the Minnesota Twins will be trying to pick up their second consecutive series win when they take on the Chicago White Sox in the second game of their three-game series on Tuesday night. The game will be played at Target Field and is scheduled to begin at 8:10 PM. ET.

Reynaldo Lopez, 7-10, 5.29 ERA, will get the start for the White Sox. The Twins will give the ball to Michael Pineda, 8-5, 4.20 ERA.

White Sox Trying To Play Spoiler

The White Sox have been eliminated from playoff contention, but with the Twins and Cleveland Indians only 2.5 games apart in the AL Central standings and the Indians only 1.5 games ahead of the Oakland Athletics in the Wildcard standings, the White Sox can still cost either or both teams a shot at the playoffs and will try to do their part with a win over Minnesota on Tuesday.

Chicago has struggled offensively. The team’s .255 batting average is 12th in the league. Their .309 on-base percentage is 24th, while their .402 slugging percentage is 27th in the league. The 518 runs they have scored are 28th in the league.

Yoan Moncada leads the way for the White Sox with a .301 batting average, while Jose Abreu leads the team with 26 homers and 89 RBI.

Chicago’s pitching also hasn’t been very good. Opponents have a .265 batting average against the White Sox, which is 24th in the league. Their 4.86 ERA is 22nd, while their 44 quality starts are 18th in the league.

In his last start, Lopez gave up nine hits and five earned runs in 5.1 innings, leading to an 8-7 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. The team will need a better effort from him to get past the Twins on Tuesday.
