The losing are piling

The Toronto Raptors are enduring a challenging season, currently sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with an 8-30 record. RJ Barrett leads the team in scoring with 23.1 points per game, while Jakob Poeltl is the top rebounder, averaging 10.5 boards per contest. Scottie Barnes contributes significantly across the board with 20.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game.

Defensively, the Raptors struggle, allowing 119.1 points per game, which ranks fourth-worst in the NBA. Their offense hasn't been much better, averaging 110.7 points per game, placing them 21st in the league. The team's three-point shooting has been particularly weak, ranking last in the NBA with just 11.4 made threes per game and a 34.3% success rate from beyond the arc.

The Raptors' recent form has been poor, with a 1-15 record in their last 16 games and a 2-7 record against the spread in their last 9 outings. The Raptors have lost four straight games, but covered the 14.5-point spread in their 132-126 loss in Cleveland on Thursday.

Pistons moving on up

The Detroit Pistons have shown improvement this season, holding a 19-19 record and positioning themselves in the playoff race in the Eastern Conference. Cade Cunningham leads the team's offense with 24.3 points and 9.3 assists per game. Jaden Ivey adds 17.6 points per game, but he is out with a broken fibula. In Ivey's absence, Detroit will look for more from Malik Beasley (16.3 ppg)  and Tobias Harris contributes 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds.

Defensively, the Pistons allow 113.2 points per game, ranking 16th in the NBA. They've been strong on the boards, ranking 4th in the league by allowing only 41.9 rebounds per game to opponents. The team's three-point shooting has been solid, averaging 13.5 made threes per game, good for 14th in the league.

The Pistons have been on a hot streak, winning eight of their last 10 games, even after losing to Golden State 107-104 on Thursday.

Best Bets for Toronto Raptors vs. Detroit Pistons

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

Rating:

Detroit has been playing significantly better basketball lately, winning five of their last six games. They've also dominated the Raptors at home, covering the spread in the last three meetings at Little Caesars Arena. With the Raptors struggling on both ends of the court and having a dismal 1-15 record in their last 16 games, the Pistons should be able to capitalize on their home-court advantage and cover the spread.

Prediction: Pistons -6

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

Rating:

The Raptors have been struggling offensively, ranking 21st in the league in scoring. Additionally, the under has hit in 9 of Toronto's last 13 games played in January. For the Pistons, the under has been a trend as well, hitting in four of their last six games overall and in five of their last seven games against Toronto. Given these trends and the Raptors' offensive woes, expect a lower-scoring affair that falls short of the 230.5 total.

Prediction: Under 230.5
