Memphis takes on Denver in a battle of Western Conference foes. While Memphis is really struggling without star point guard Mike Conley, Denver is 21-20 without injured All-Star power forward Paul Millsap.
The Grizzlies are coming off a 105-102 win over New Orleans o break a two-game losing streak. They haven’t won back-to-back games since late October. Tyreke Evans scored 28 points to lead Memphis and has now scored 20 or more points eight of his last nine games. Marc Gasol scored 21 points and scored seven in the final period.
After making a move in the Northwest Division, the Nuggets have lost three straight games. They fell to Atlanta at home on Wednesday, 110-97. Gary Harris led the Nuggets with 25 points on 11-of-14 shooting but didn’t receive enough help. The bottom line was that the Denver defense was bad, allowing 50 percent from the floor against the dismal Hawks and 12-of-27 from beyond the arc (44.4%).
The bottom line is that this game will be an Overachiever. Memphis has scored 100 or more points in six straight games. They’ve also given up 100 or more points in four of the last six games. That great defense is not as great without Conley. Memphis is 4-0 Over their last four road games.
