Washington Wizards Hoping to Get Back in Win Column

Washington battled but came up on the short end of the scoreboard for the second straight game down in South Beach as they were knocked off by the Heat. Against Miami, Washington started strong, leading by as many as 12 in the opening quarter and by 10 after one. The Wizards saw the lead trimmed to three at the half and the game was even after three quarters. Washington’s last lead came at 105-104 with 2:24 to play: they were outscored 6-2 the rest of the way to wind up with the loss. The Wizards shot 43% from the floor, including 11 of 29 from three-point range, and allowed Miami to shoot 47.2% in the game. Hachimura and Morris have each missed the last three contests: each of the three players are all considered day-to-day.

Boston Celtics Seek to Keep Rolling

Rating:

Boston has been a team on fire in the early going this season as the transition from Ime Udoka to Joe Mazzulla behind the bench has been seamless. The Celtics continue to pile up gaudy offensive numbers as the addition of Brogdon brought in another scoring option in the backcourt. Washington has been good on the defensive end of the floor but their offensive struggles are hard to overcome. Ranking second-worst in the league in scoring more than a month into the season is a tough sell, especially when you’re facing the league’s top scoring attack. Playing at home with all the weapons that they boast, you have to give the upper hand to the Celtics in this one.

Prediction: Boston Celtics

Rating:

Washington has seen the under hold a narrow 10-9 advantage in their games on the season going into this game. The Wizards are 3-5 on the road this season with the over posting a 4-4 mark in those contests. Washington is a slower than average team in tempo as they are 22nd in pace by averaging 98.2 possessions per game on the year. Boston comes into this game having seen the over post a 10-8-1 mark in their contests on the year. The Celtics have seen the over hit in seven of their nine home games this season, though they stayed under in the win over Sacramento Friday. Their other under at home this season came in the first meeting with Washington. Boston is 18th in the league in tempo as they average 99.1 possessions per game. With Washington struggling to score, this game likely ends up falling short of the total.
