The Chicago Bulls will host the Washington Wizards in an inter-conference battle Sunday evening from the United Center. The Wizards are coming off a tough 113-108 home loss to the Cavaliers on Friday night, and the Bulls dropped a 112-104 home decision to the Suns on Saturday. The Bulls lead the season series 2-1.

Wizards Can't Hold Lead in Home Loss to Cavs

The Washington Wizards will look to return to the win column after a rough loss. They could not hold a large lead in a 113-108 home loss to the Cavaliers on Friday night in a clash that had the Wizards favored by six points. The defeat snapped a two-game winning streak. Washington is still in the hunt, standing three games back of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Bradley Beal has netted 30 points in two out of his last three contests. The 26-year old shooting guard is having another outstanding season, sporting an average of 29.1 PPG on 45% shooting. Beal scored 30 points in the win against the Bulls earlier this month. David Bertans continues to consistently produce and is averaging 14.4 points on the month. The third-year small forward is posting an average of 14.9 PPG on the season. Rui Hachimura scored 17 points in Friday’s defeat. The rookie power forward is third in team scoring with 14 PPG and 6 RPG.

The Wizards have been awful on the road where they hold a 7-20 record on the season. Washington is scoring an average of 115.5 points, good for sixth in the NBA. The Wizards defense is often an issue and they are allowing an average of 119.7 points, positioning them last in the NBA.

Bulls Slide Extended to Eight Games

The Chicago Bulls are in need of a win in a big way. They have been tagged with the defeat in eight games in a row due to poor defense. They were four-point dogs in a 112-104 home loss to the Suns on Saturday night. The Bulls have also been hit with several key injuries that have led to their slump. Lauri Markanen (15 PPG), and Otto Porter Jr. (11.2 PPG) remain out and Wendell Carter Jr. (11.7 PPG) is questionable.

Zach LaVine has not fared well in his last few games but overall he is playing well and has scored at least 20 points three times this month. The 24-year old point guard posted 41 points against the Wizards earlier this month and is averaging 25.2 PPG on 44% shooting. Coby White collected 33 points in Saturday’s loss. The rookie point guard has increased his season average to 12 PPG. Thaddeus Young has reached double-digits in points in each game this month and holds an average of 10 PPG.

Chicago is 11-18 on their home court this season. The Bulls are only averaging 106.1 points on the season, ranking them down at 27th in the NBA. They are conceding an average of 109.4 points, positioning them 12th overall.

Rating:

I am siding with the Wizards in this one. The Bulls have been one of the worst teams in the NBA recently, and they are dealing with many injuries that have also played a big role in their struggles. They have now lost eight straight games overall and each loss in that span occurred by six or more points.

Furthermore, the Wizards have won two out of their last three games overall which included a 126-114 home win against the Bulls, and they are still trying to climb into a playoff spot. They have averaged a solid 116 points in their last three games, and the Bulls defense has been atrocious.

Prediction: Washington Wizards

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

Rating:

I expect a high-scoring game. The Bulls have surrendered at least 118 points in five out of their last seven games overall. The over has been a very common trend due to their defensive struggles. The over is 8-2 in the Bulls’ last 10 games overall.

In addition, the Wizards have no problem scoring and defensively they give up a ton of points. The Bulls scoring hasn’t been an issue and they have netted at least 110 points in all three games against the Wizards this season. The over is 11-4-1 in the Bulls’ last 16 home games against the Wizards.

Rating:

The over on the Wizards team total is a solid play. The Wizards have no problem scoring on the road. They have collected at least 124 points in four out of their last five road games overall. The Bulls are playing without Lauri Markananen and Wendell Carter Jr. is questionable. These two injuries have impacted their defense and the Wizards should take advantage.

Prediction: Wizards Team Total Over

Half-Time Total Bet

Rating:

This game should yield plenty of offense in the first half. The Wizards are a strong first half team from an offensive standpoint. They are fourth in the NBA with an average of 59.1 points in the opening half. Chicago has surrendered an average of 58.7 points in the opening half in their last three games, and the Wizards are last in the NBA with an average of 63 points allowed in the first half.
