Luuk van Bree Leads Braves Past Panthers
The Bradley Braves had just five wins on the year overall last year, but this year they already have eight wins overall and their two league wins are just one off of last year’s three that they had. They are an improved team and they showed Northern Iowa Just that in their last game as they beat them 72-61 at home. This has been a pretty bad offensive team this year, but they did shoot 55.1% from the field overall and 47.1% from long range against a pretty solid Northern Iowa defense. Luuk van Bree led the attack with 20 points, while Donte Thomas also had a strong game with 12 points and 13 boards. Darrell Brown had 12 points as well to round out the double-digit scorers in the game for the Braves. The defense played well in the game also as they held the Panthers to just 33.9% shooting overall and just 30.3% from long range. The Braves have six players that average at least 6.4 ppg, but van Bree (12.6 ppg) is the only player to average in double-figures.
The Braves have averaged 66.8 ppg and have allowed 70.6 ppg in league play so far, while on the road for the year they have averaged 63.5 ppgv and have allowed 77.7 ppg. The Braves enter this game ranked 300th in the nation in scoring, putting up 67.1 ppg, while also ranking 191st in FG% (44.0%), 139th in 3-point shooting (36.1%) and 249th in free throw shooting (66.8%). At the defensive end of the floor they have been average as they come in ranked 161st in points allowed, giving up 71.0 ppg, while also ranking 73rd in defensive FG% (40.7%) and 68th in 3-point defense (31.8%).
Sycamores Still Searching For 1st League Win
Indiana state has been one of the stronger teams in the MVC over the past few years, but that has not been the case this year as they have gone 0-5 in league play so far this year. Their first three conference losses featured an eight points loss to Wichita State and a couple of OT loss to Southern Illinois and Missouri State on the road, but in their last two games they fell by 19 at home to Illinois State and by 17 on the road to Drake. It’s getting worse before it gets better. In the loss to the Bulldogs, they shot just 32.4% from the field, while allowed 47.8% shooting overall, including 47.1% from long range. They were plus five in rebounds, but minus three in turnovers. Leading their attack was Brenton Scott and Everett Clemons, who both had 12 points, while Jordan Barnes had 10. The offense has been an issue for this team all year, but the defense has been no better either, but they have won five of the last six in this series so maybe they can grab their first conference win today. The Sycamores have five players that have averaged at least 6.1 ppg this year, but Scott (18.3 ppg). Is the only player to average in double figures on the team.
The Sycamores have averaged 69.8 ppg and have allowed 81.0 ppg in league play so far, while at home for the year they have averaged 68.7 ppg and have allowed 73.7 ppg. Indiana State checks in at 222nd in the nation in scoring, putting up 72.2 ppg, while also ranking 301st in FG% (41.3%), 192nd in 3-point shooting (34.9%) and 266th in free throw shooting (66.2%). At the defensive end of the floor they have been poor as they come in ranked 247th in points allowed, giving up 74.5 ppg, while also ranking 96th in defensive FG% (41.3%) and 263rd in 3-point defense (36.3%).

- Favorite is 11-5 ATS the last 16 games in this series
The Bradley Braves have been a surprise so far and have already surpassed last year’s win total, while the Sycamores have yet to win a conference game. They should get their first MVC win here and it could be an easy win. They are desperate and Bradley I still a bad team, plus the favorite is 11-5 ATS the last 16 in this series and the home team is 13-6 ATS the last 19. Take the sycamores to grab an easy win in this one.
