No, it wasn’t Philadelphia over Atlanta in the NFL. Eastern Michigan couldn’t miss on Tuesday from Bowling Green, converting on 58.2 percent of their shots in their 28-point road win. Their defense was just as good as the offense. They held the Falcons to just 33.3 percent shooting from the field and forced 18 turnovers. Willie Mangum IV led the way with 19 points in 18 minutes off the bench. James Thompson IV and Ty Toney scored 16 points apiece for the Eagles, Thompson, a 6-10, 215-pound forward, also grabbed 11 rebounds and shot 7-of-9 from the floor. As a talented sophomore, Thompson has become one of the best big men in the MAC. He’s averaging 14.5 points, 10.8 rebounds and is averaging 1.1 blocks per game. Mangum (6-1, 220) leads Eastern Michigan with 16.9 points per game and also averages 2.1 steals per game.
Bobcats rally to beat Bulls
Kenny Kaminski buried a contest jumper with less than one second left to give Ohio a big MAC road win over Buffalo on Tuesday. Ohio had trailed by as many as 14 points before rallying late in the second half. Jaaron Simmons led the Bobcats with 14 points and five assists on 5-of-14 shooting (4-9 FT). Gavin Block chipped in with 13 points and grabbed eight boards to lead the Bobcats, while Kaminski added 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting (1-5 3pt). Ohio shot 39.3 percent from the floor and 27.3 percent (6-22) from beyond the arc. More importantly, they held Buffalo to just 37.3 percent from the field and forced 15 turnovers.
