When it comes to college basketball picks, our NCAAB Predictions are stellar.

San Jose State is on a four-game losing streak

The San Jose Spartans have dropped four consecutive contests since the end of the non-conference schedule. Last Tuesday, the Spartans suffered an 85-78 defeat to No. 25 Utah State, falling to 0-5 in the conference play.

San Jose State covered a 9.5-point spread against Utah State. The game was tied at 69-69 with six minutes left on the clock when the Aggies launched a 7-0 run. The Spartans shot 41.7% from the field (14-for-33 from deep) while posting a 20/10 assist-to-turnover ratio, and senior guard Donavan Yap led the way with 22 points and four assists.

Yap now tallies 8.7 points and 2.9 dimes per game. Senior guard Josh Uduje is the Spartans’ leading scorer with 16.8 points per game, while junior G Will McClendon adds 12.8 points a night. SJSU tallies 110.0 points per 100 possessions (95th in the country) and allows 109.5 points in return (253rd). The Spartans are No. 203 in the NCAA NET Rankings.

Air Force hopes to snap a five-game skid

The Air Force Falcons finished the non-conference play with an 81-76 defeat at Northern Colorado. Since then, the Falcons dropped four consecutive MWC games against Boise State 77-59, UNLV 77-58, Wyoming 70-65, and San Diego State 67-38.

Air Force is coming off Wednesday’s heavy road loss at SDSU. Interestingly, the Falcons had a 20-8 lead midway through the first half. They shot just 30.6% from the field (5-for-20 from deep) while committing a staggering 20 turnovers. Senior guard Ethan Taylor led the charge with 11 points, five rebounds, and three steals.

Taylor has been the Falcons’ best player this season, posting 14.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. Air Force scores only 97.4 points per 100 possessions (316th in the nation) and surrenders 108.5 points in return (231st). The Falcons are No. 295 in the NCAA NET Rankings.

Rating:

This San Jose State team seriously lacks the height. The Spartans’ interior defense has been awful this season, and SJSU ranks 312th in the nation in opposing 2-point percentage (55.9%). I expect the Falcons, who make 57.0% of their 2-pointers (41st), to attack the rim all night and keep it close down the stretch.

The Spartans take good care of the ball (36th in turnover percentage, 15.1%), whereas the Falcons rank 329th in turnover percentage (20.9%). However, the Spartans force a turnover on just 16.4^ of opposing possessions (241st). The Falcons should be able to execute their offense at a high level in this matchup.

Prediction: Air Force Falcons +1.5

Rating:

Both San Jose State and Air Force play at a slow pace. The Spartans tally 66.0 possessions per 40 minutes (273rd in the nation), and the Falcons register only 64.6 possessions per 40 minutes (338th). Hereof, give me the under on the total.

The Aztecs will look to slow things down as much as possible while trying to get an easy shot in the paint. I mentioned that they have a serious height advantage in this matchup. The Spartans won’t rush things either, so I expect to see a proper low-scoring affair.

Prediction: Under
