Seton Hall looks for second straight
The Seton Hall Pirates are winless no more in the Big East after rebounding from a slow first half to come from behind to upend the visiting DePaul Blue Demons on Tuesday night, 85-80 in overtime. The Pirates shot 52 percent from the floor overall and 50 percent from 3-point range to erase a 14-point halftime deficit and improve to 1-3 in Big East play and 5-9 overall.
“I’m just trying to find guys to play with some energy. I’m trying to find guys that play with passion and want to be out there, and that’s what I’ve been preaching for the last week and a half since the Xavier game. This is big-time basketball. Everybody don’t have to play if you ain’t playing the way I want you to play. I’m okay now playing five or six guys. I just want guys to play hard. If you play hard, you give yourself a chance. Obviously I want to win every game, I’m a sore loser, I hate losing more than I like winning, but I just want to play hard. And we haven’t been playing hard, and that’s not my team, so it was good to see guys play hard in the second half. We got back in the game, and it’s contagious.” head coach Shaheen Holloway said after the win.
The Pirates shot their way back from a double-digit deficit at home on Tuesday night, turning the game completely around to force overtime and picking up their first win in the conference this season. The Pirates shot 52 percent from the floor including 50 percent from 3-point range, 11-of-22. They were led by Isaiah Coleman and Dylan Addae-Wusu, each with 24 points on the night. Both players were efficient with Coleman knocking down 6-of-12 shots and Addae-Wusu drilling 7-of-12. Seton Hall's bench outscored DePaul's bench 33-17 for the game. The Pirates are now 26-10 all-time vs. DePaul with the win.
The Pirates still have a way to go to get back to the .500 mark on the season with a record of 5-9 heading into Providence. Despite the outburst against DePaul, the Pirates are struggling offensively. They are 347th in the nation in scoring this year. They are 336th in field goal shooting and 155th from 3-point range. The Pirates are also just 318th in the nation in 3-point field goals made per game. The Pirates are 226th in the nation in turnovers per game and 287th in offensive efficiency. On the defensive end, the Pirates are 22nd in the nation in scoring defense. They are 178th in field goal defense and 201st in 3-point defense. Seton Hall is 64th in forced turnovers this season and 59th in defensive efficiency. The Hall is 201st in the nation in total rebounds per game.

Best Bets for Seton Hall vs. Providence
Full-Game Side Bet
Insiders Status:
The Friars have been one of the better home teams in the country over the last several seasons, which continues this season with a 7-2 mark at home. They are nearly equal to Seton Hall defensively and are far more efficient on the offensive end. While Seton Hall ranks in the bottom third in the country in nearly all offensive categories, Providence is closer to the middle of the pack. They are also vastly superior to Seton Hall on the glass so they should be able to control the game. Providence gets over the .500 mark and picks up a big conference home win on Saturday.
Take Providence.
Full-Game Total Pick
Insiders Status:
This game will be played slowly, and shot-making will be at a premium. The first team to 70 points will have this game firmly in hand. The Friars are 338th in the nation in pace of play, while the Pirates play even slower, ranked 351st in the country. Both teams are below-average shooting teams, and Seton Hall struggles to put up points, ranked 347th in the nation in points per game. This will be a defensive struggle decided by which team gets the slightly hotter hand.
Take the under.
