Best Bets for Xavier vs. DePaul

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

Rating:

We’re looking at a pair of struggling teams as each has dropped five of their previous six games. DePaul just blew an 18-point lead against Seton Hall in the second half and that’s not an opportunity that they will get often. Now, they have to deal with a Xavier squad that is trying to turn around their own recent misfortunes. Xavier is a good offensive unit and they are better defensively than DePaul is at this stage of things. The Musketeers have experience in spades as they are second in the nation in Division I experience. That, coupled with the leadership of Freemantle and good perimeter shooting, gives them the edge here.

Prediction: Xavier Musketeers -5.5

Full-Game Total Pick

Rating:

Xavier, for their offensive weaponry, have done a decent job holding opposing teams in check and holding games under the number this season. The Musketeers are 67th in defensive efficiency, 80th in effective field goal percentage defense (47.8%), 67th in two-point defense (47.5%) and 150th in field goal percentage defense (42.5%) this season. DePaul is a team that lives and dies by the three-pointer as 41.8% of their points (eighth in Division I) come from beyond the arc this season. The Blue Demons are 320th in block percentage (12%) and 301st in steal percentage (11.3%) offensively, which leads to empty possessions. Look for this game to end up falling short ot the total as the perimeter shots don’t fall for the Blue Demons.

Prediction: Under 150.5
