Drexel continues their travel in the Carolinas when they face UNCW on Saturday in CAA action. The Dragons are coming off a big upset over Charleston, 79-78 on Thursday. UNCW fell to Delaware at home, 82-69 on Thursday. The Seahawks have won six straight games in this series.
Dragons are flying high
Drexel is 8-10 on the season and 2-3 in the CAA, so winning a game on the road against one of the best teams in the league was not expected. They ended a 22-game home winning streak for the Cougars, which was second in the nation to Houston. The Dragons were down by as many as 13 points, before coming back thanks to 22 points from Trevor John and 20 from Alihan Demir. Troy Harper made three free throws shots with 1.1 seconds left to lift the Dragons to the victory. They won despite the fact that Charleston shot 55.4 percent from the floor and turned the ball over just eight times. But Drexel shot 47.5 percent from the floor and made 15 of their 20 free throws. The Cougars helped out by making just 9-of-16 (56.2%) from the line.

Drexel had just lost at home to William & Mary by 18 so consistency is an issue for this team. Harper leads with 16.2 points per game for an offense that averages 78.6 points per game on 47.3 percent shooting (37% 3pt). They are allowing 78.9 points per game on 49.2 percent shooting (38.1% 3pt). Demir adds 14.6 points per game on 6.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists.
Seahawks are not flying at home
UNCW is 2-2 in the CAA and they’ve lost both games at home at Trask Coliseum. The Seahawks were on a nice roll, beating JMU in overtime and Towson by six, before falling to Delaware at home, 82-69 on Thursday. In the loss to the Blue Hens, the Seahawks shot just 40 percent from the field and 13-of-21 from the line. They allowed Delaware to shoot 51.9 percent from the field and couldn’t stop freshman Ithiel Horton, who scored 31 points on 10-of-15 shooting. Jay Estime’ led UNCW with 15 points and five rebounds, while Jeantal Cylla added 13 points. Power forward Devontae Cacok produced 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Cacok leads with 14.3 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. Point guard Kai Toews, a freshman from Japan, leads in assists with 7.6 per game. On offense, UNCW averages 75.8 points per game on 44.6 percent shooting (35.4% 3pt). They allow 80.2 points per game on 46.3 percent shooting (38% 3pt).
- 5-1 ATS last 6 home games.
- 4-1 ATS last 5 overall.
- 0-4 ATS last 4 after an ATS win.
- 1-4 ATS last 5 after a SU win.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
This is definitely a letdown spot after Drexel shocked Charleston. The Dragons should be sky-high for this one but are also the same team that lost at home to the Tribe by 18. UNC Wilmington is too good a home team to lose three straight in the conference. Cacok is a bull down low and Toews is one of the best young point guards in the nation. The Seahawks are 4-1 ATS their last 5 in this series.
Full-Game Total Pick
Drexel is an over team and this series has gone over in four of five games. The Dragons are 7-3 over their last 10 games on Saturday. UNCW is 4-1 Over their last 5 at home and 8-3 Over their last 11 after a double-digit loss at home. Both teams love to push the ball and both are deficient on defense.
